CSR casitas vs cabanas

OK – so you guys have got me sold on CSR. We are currently leaning toward requesting a room in the casitas (I realize that there are no guarantees) because we think we might prefer the atmosphere of the area & decor of the rooms. But, we also considered requesting the cabanas. Any thoughts on the pros & cons of each? Which is your favorite?
If it helps, we are headed to Disney in Aug. 2009 for a Honeymoon that was delayed 3 years by law school (and the bar exam – yuck! ).

Personally I love the Casitas. The atmosphere of the area around the rooms, the fountains, the lanscaping, being on the first bustop pickup and the closeness to the main building are all big pluses for me. But I never use the main pool and the Casitas is the section furthest away from the pool.

I'll second the Casitas for pretty much all the same reasons!

I think a lot of people request cabanas 9b because it is close to sooo many things.

We just stayed in Casita 3 and loved it. The theming was awesome, and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Depending on what you want to be close to, here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Make your room request as soon as you make your reservation. It’s never too early.

We have stayed in the Casitas all six times (and hope to on our upcoming 7th stay). We love the scenery, landscaping, layout, fountains, etc. of the Casitas. We also like being close to the Fitness Center/Spa and the quiet pool so we always ask for Casitas 4 or 5. The other areas, Cabanas and Ranchos are lovely too. But we just prefer the Casitas and do not mind the walk to the Dig Site Pool or the main building. My DH and I walk at home so it is no big deal to us.

We tried the cabanas last trip and really didn't love them like we thought we would. We usually stay in the casitas and much prefer them over cabanas, but to each his own! I think the ranchos look really awesome!
