First time there. The wife called to verify some things and the wife requested a room close to the pool. Is this close to any bus stops? Should we request to be closer to the main building?

We fly down on Monday.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with any of the cabana buildings or ranchos 7b if location is your only concern. Cabana 8a is the closest to the main pool area (The Dig Site) and bus stop #4. Cabana 9b is the closest to the main building where the store and food areas are located. Cabana 8b and 9a and in between. Rancho 7b is behind cabana 8a. A cmplete map can be found on my website below. The further you go from the main building the longer your walk. Rancho 7b and cabana 8a are about a 7 minute walk. The whole loop around the lake is just over a mile and the average person can walk a mile in 15-20 minutes so your walk isn't as long as some guests make it sound. Cabana 9b is 100 yards from the main building and 50 yards from bus stop #1. It is just a short walk over the bridge to the Dig Site.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

We were in Cabanas 9B and it was perfect especially with two kids but you're on your Honeymoon so something more secluded might be in order. Perhaps Ranchos 7B as Buzz suggested above? Definitely check out his website as it was invaluable for our first visit last summer. Keep in mind that the buildings are not straight in a row like a regular motel but twist and turn along the way.

BTW, Buzz2001, love your pin! What is that?

The one on the right has Mickey from the 1995 short Runaway Brain. I liked it because it is one of the few times you see Mickey out of character. The other is buzz flying over CSR of course.

Very cool! I was talking about the one on the right. :D
Never heard of that little film. I guess that's why I like it too - kinda scary but made me laugh!!

Building 9B is currently undergoing some renovation. It seems that they are completely re-doing the entire second floor. As the week went on, there were fewer and fewer people in that building so I can assume that they are currently not accepting reservations for that building. It is just as well....we were on the first floor and were wakened several mornings by loud thimping and on one occasion even drilling as early as 8 a.m.

I have stayed in Cabana 8B and loved it as it is very close to the pool and not that far from the morning coffee.

Hi,

This is a great thread and I really appreciate al the info on CSR. I'll be leaving on Friday for a week's stay and I'm really looking forward to it.

I have a waterview room reserved, and I'd like to be somewhere between the Pepper Market and the exercise facilities, overlooking the lake. After looking at the map, I've reached the conclusion that Casitas 3 is probably a good spot.

I'm a bit apprehensive though. Can anyone tell me about the Casitas section? Is it relatively quiet? Are there non-smoking rooms? Would I be better off asking for a different location? Should I fax my request ahead of time, or just wait until i get there and ask the CM?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. And thanks for a great thread!

Check out my website for some pics of the courtyards and fountains of the casitas. We stayed in 5 with a waterview our first trip and loved it.

LJC1861 - good heads up for folks.

Those pictures are really great! I'm really looking forward to staying at CSR, and I think I will see if I can't get a room in the Casitas section.
