I've read many mixed reviews of the Pepper Market but if we don't use it, what are our options for two adults with two grandkids ages 10 and 11? Garden Grocer isn't our style but what's left short of an expensive sit down meal in the parks that the kids won't likely eat anyway? All we want is a quick breakfast before hitting the parks. We haven't been there since 2000 but I recall this being an issue back then too. :confused3

When we stayed at CSR we usually stopped at the little store next to Pepper Market, I think they called it La Tienda. We usually got fruit, juice, breakfast bars, muffins, things like that, that were available to eat on the way or when we got a little hungry after arriving at the parks. Now we tend to pack items and keep them in the room to eat before heading out.

Is about a mile up the road from there. DW and I used it for coffee each morning when we stayed at CSR.

Thanks for the trip report. We are staying there soon.

We will not be using a car at all, strictly Disney transportation. I have a few questions about the McDonalds :
1. is this the same McDonalds that is right near ASSports? (the sports themed McDs)
2. you said McD's is about a mile away, but if you're used to walking, can you walk to McDonalds from CSR?
3. If walkable, are there sidewalks or a path to walk to the McDonalds or are we talking about something that would be better off not attempted?

thanks a bunch! tink

Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll have a rental car so both McD's and a grocery store are options. Maybe I'll pick up a few things at Publix just to have on hand in the room. I'd prefer something on Disney grounds though. The last time, we ate breakfast in a dining room just inside the gates to MK on the right hand side. I can't remember the name but it was a good spot, decent food and not outrageously expensive for breakfast. I don't know if it's still there though.

The wife thinks it is more like 2-3 miles. I can't remember honestly, but I know it was nothing of a drive. I just looked at it on a satelite view and yes I do see a walk/bike path. I probably wouldn't walk there, soley because of all the walking you do everyday in the parks, but it is definately walkable for someone used to walking. If you know where the CSR sits on WDW property go to www.virtualearth.com and scoll across to Florida and then keep zooming in on Orlando. Switch from map view to arial view. When you find CSR just follow the road southward until you get to the 4 way intersection. Yes it is the McDs you were referring to.

There is a Golden Corral and a Shoney's that both have breakfast buffets just up the road within 4-5 miles. They are both on HWY 192.

We stop by the little store next to the Pepper Market and get milk and poptarts to eat on the way to the parks each morning. If you are on the Dining plan, they will let you use one of your snack credits.

Thanks for the info. I will look it up. If it seems too far in the Aug heat, I will stick to my original plan of making muffins at home and packing them. We have been doing that for four years now and it really helps cut down the getting ready time in the morning. :)

I would at least try the Pepper Market. When we stayed at CSR in 2003, we tried going to Bob Evans one morning, Golden Corral one morning. We found that those restaurants were busy and full of other tourists (even in Sept) and we still wound up spending at least $20-25 on breakfast for 2 adults and one toddler. One morning we were a little rushed and decided to have breakfast at PM so we could catch the bus real quick. We only spent about $20 and it was way more convenient. Dh had eggs/sausage type breakfast, I had Mickey waffles and our son had eggs so it wasn't like we just had donuts and juice. We're staying at CSR again this Sept and while we might eat some breakfasts in our room, we'll likely eat at PM also. Our toddler is used to eating a decent breakfast (eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc) and needs that to keep him happy. :)

Have a great trip! I'm sure your grandkids will have a blast!

We pack the single serving cereal boxes in our luggage and eat in our room before heading to the park. We've learned not to buy milk from the store beside the pepper market....get it at the gift shop instead. Its the same milk but a better price. If we feel like something a little different we'll go to the pepper market and get take out toast for 95 cents! We go on the dining plan so we have more than enough food throughout our vacation!!!!
