CSE-- Pg. 74 SATAN'S HAMMER, Ch.18, pg.160 "Goodnight Sweetheart" epilogue

Hope everyone had a good Independence Day! It was my one day off in a 9 day stretch, so we did a whole lot of NOTHING the whole day! I take that back, I spent the day catching up on this TR & playing with the kids. Not that it matters that I'm caught up, cuz I now have to work 3 in a row, have 1 day off, then work another 3 in a row.

So glad about the reunion! My sister passed away when she was 31, and my 3 nephews were young. Her husband remarried a year later, and we rarely saw the boys after that. Now that they're all adults, they have the ability to come see my parents, but because they never established a relationship when they were little, they have no desire to interact with my parents. It's a shame. Point being, I hope that's the start to a great relationship with all of ya'll!

that's how I felt about my grandsons. I thought about them all the time, and cried for them, and prayed for them.
and, boy oh boy!!! does god ever answer prayers!!!!:dance3:
and now. to reunite with our neice and nephews on steve's side (oops, nebo). since Nebo's sister died, we haven't kept in touch. brandon joined the army and was in Iraq. holly's family moved to oregon after todd's first wedding, and we haven't really seen anyone since. it was great to all be together again!

Wait,, you mean ,,,,,I thought you went through that already?[/B]

]

um, gee thanks for sharing private, female, um.. stuff.. with the world. and I promise NOT to tell anyone that the top of your head isn't the ONLY place you have lost hair..hey, the 50's is the "sucky decade" right?;)

SIGH!!! (followed by a pout..big enough for a birdie to poop on, as my mom always said.. I pouted a lot as a child)

in computer games such as Leissure suit Larry, king's Quest, etc. the "hero" would be wise to "collect" any loose object it came in contact with.. never know when you might need a magic marker, or a powder puff. who knows?

Mad magazine joked that if these heros were in real life, NO WAY! could they carry around all this "stuff" they collected.

when Leisure Suit Larry took a cruise, he actually encountered a Maid's cart. he managed to finagle a bunch of various "goodies"... had no idea at the time what good a tube of lotion or a roll of toilet paper would do, but if you could, you took it.......late on in the game, they came in handy.

hence, I go to "leisure Suit Larry" the maid's cart. no, not to steal anything.. just things to use during the trip. ie,. more sugar packets, plastic cups, shampoo, etc.

I'm not ignoring everybody, honest! Life's been getting in the way, big time! I've been squeezing in Dis time in drips and drabs when I can.

Here goes...

Good evening,, let's see where we stand now:

Well there's your first problem. You're standing. People expect tripping, falling or tumbling. With scrapes, cuts and/or bruises as an accompaniment.

It's late Moday afternoon, we are back in our room getting ready to take care of business at Downtown Disney,,,

You have to go to DTD to take care of business? The bathroom in your room not good enough, or something?

No, I do not want to know what the something might be!

and then see if we can make it across Beuna Vista Drive to the Hess station and pick us up some beer,, we can't just drink whiskey and vodka the entire time we are here dontcha know.

Well no. That just wouldn't do, now would it.

But wow,,,, a day in the sun just sucks all the strength out of you,

Spent all July 1 by the pool... in shade and still felt like I'd been run over by a truck by the end of the day.

I felt like Superman and the Yellow Jacket was Lex Luthor who hid some Kryptonite under my lounger, Lord knows she certainly had ample enough opportunity, and was close enough to accomplish that.

That was pretty sneaky of her wasn't it? I went back to see how close the Lex Luthor Yellow Jacket got and I noticed something. I put a couple of arrows on the picture, see if you notice what I did.

lexyellowjacket.jpg

After a couple of drinks in the room,,, including the waste of time Chi Chi's Mai Tai pre-made drink that came in a big plastic bottle, we made up a couple of fuzzy cups drinks for the bus ride.

Funny, I used to work for Chi Chi's about 243 years ago. And just made their soft tacos for dinner last night.

Now,, what i"m going to say is going to sound bad and excessive,,,

I'm sorry, but how does that differ from any other thing you've said? :confused3

A little late now to worry about my image,,

A little late??? A little???

a lot of times we get to the bus stop and especially if it's a Downtown Disney bus we are waiting for,,,,which can take the longest we've found out,,, well, most of the drink is gone before the bus even get's there, so I will also carry a 'sipper' to drink first.

Nah, that's not excessive. Excessive is carrying a 'sipper', a drink to drink and maybe a couple in your pocket too....

Oh, wait.

Okay. Excessive is carrying a 'sipper', a drink to drink, a couple in your pocket and an alcohol I.V.

In this case tonight it was just one of our very few plasic cups with ice and a nice splash of Black Velvet whiskey in it.

Define "nice splash". My idea of nice splash is tilting the bottle and tilting it back almost as soon as something comes out. Perhaps your splash has more of a 'glug-glug-glug-glug-glug-glug-glug' feel to it?

The amazing thing was that they did't crack in the suitcase.

Amazing is saving a life. Or teaching a blind man to see. Or packing cheap plastic cups in a suitcase and not cracking them.

Check.

It's great for sipping,,, but if need be and the bus is there or pulls up shortly after we get there, it can alos be downed in a hurry.

And here I thought you were going to say "it can also be tossed out."

Silly me. :rolleyes1:

When Diane saw me heading out the door with a fuzzy cup AND an auxilliary beverage, well,, want to guess who ran back in and got her own auxilliary beverage?

Ah. So you're saying you're not exclusive in your excessiveness."

She sometimes get's the attitude of, "Hold it, you have something that I don't have? I don't think so!"

My DW absolutely does not do that. If I walk out of the house with something that she doesn't have but decides she wants...

Then she takes mine and makes me go back and get another for myself if I want it badly enough.

After a check of an abandoned maid cart,,,

They have abandoned maid carts at Disney? How can you tell? Cobwebs? I'd be afraid it was just 'theming'.

Doesn't that feel like I'm saying 'them' and 'ing'. Shouldn't it be 'themeing'?

Nevermind.

they just proved how invaluable they can be.

Wait,,, shouldn't that be Valuable? What is invaluable? It's not unvaluable, right?

Invaluable, definition: Extremely useful; indispensable

Indispensable? shouldn't that be Not dispensable? It's not undispensable right?

Wait... I'm having Deja Vu here.

And what was I talking about?

I don't remember. But I'm sure we can dispense with any value we put on the conversation.

I'm going to go and watch some Mash re-runs instead.

:cool1: I'm there!

then we put the cups inside each other and leaning over,, on the ground in the corner just on the outside of the half wall.

All I know is that from now on I'd make sure my cup was the one that the other one nested in. So if something crawled inside and had babies... I'd be drinking out of the other one.

Now, what do you think the odds are that we'll remember to retrieve them on the way back home?

I'd say excellent. As a matter of fact, I'm willing to put money on it.

This also means that for the first time in years,,, we now have Hopper passes.

Sorry, I may have missed something there. Do you mean that the AP allows you to hop... or you had to buy hoppers in order to change to the AP?

Everything appeared to go smoothly during this endeavor,,, and the number they came up with matched my pre-ordained number calculated from home to ,,,,,,The,,,

PENNY!

Don'tcha just love it when that happens? No, wait! I take that back. What's better is when they give you a number that's higher... and you get to show them the error of their ways... and you're right.

Actually what would be even better... except it never happens... would be for them to come up with a number that's lower than yours.

But that'll never happen.

So that's where we stand now,,, passes calling us,,, calling,,,

Calling Mr. and Mrs. Nebo! Calling Mr. and Mrs. Nebo! Your passes are ready!

we got squat!

Oh, so now you're doing your business.

Check.

(hint: Nebo, Smidgy might do that, but you can stand if you want. Oh, wait. With your bad eyesight, maybe you should squat. Nevermind)

The dumbest thing we ever did,,, was in '07,, when we both lost our jobs with our companies closing,,,, we just kept choosing fantasy over reality,,, and kept going back to Disney......

That sounds like an eminently sane reaction to an insane situation. Sometimes you gotta throw caution to the wind and say, "What the heck."

Oh, brother. I'm one to talk!

That is 5, count em, 5 trips from May until next February,,,buying tickets individually for each and every trip.

Yeah. Okay. You win. That was dumb. But you're forgiven, given the circumstances.

it appears it went without a hitch.
We'll know for certain tomorrow when we go to Magic Kingdom and use our new cards.

Hey! Cliffhangers go at the end, not the middle!

And as far as that goes,, tomorrow was supposed to be a Blizzard Beach day,,, but no way, no how am I trying to climb lots of stairs and do twisty slides with the way my back is, so again,,,, the water parks are S O L again, unless something drastic changes.

Methinks it's time to face facts. You are never going to get to that park.

Fate is conspiring against you.

We passed by the big hot air balloon

For a second, I thought you were talking about yourself there. But then I realised you were being literal.

but I really think 20 bucks to just go up and down is a wee bit too much, laddie.

Yup. ::yes:: I'll never do it, for just that reason. I've been up in a real one and it's really something. I have a feeling this would pale in comparison.

Turned out to be a moot point again anyway, I think that hot air balloon is full of hot air. Maybe they should go back to using hydrogen, like they used to use back in the days of the Hindenberg.

Oh, the humanity!!

But us now? Since they closed the Magic shop,,, and the other place I liked to browse in,, the Magnet shop,,, not much really interests me there anymore,

I agree with you 100%. I used to reply to posts from people wondering what to do in DTD with a suggestion to go to the magic shop to watch them perform impromptu magic. I loved it there.

This is yet another restaurant that has decided that nobody needs to see anything inside, we went upstairs where sometimes they forget to turn a light off near a table,, and after pleading with a seater to help us out,,, we got a table with just enough light to give me a fighting chance.

In this corner, weighing in at 195 pounds, with a record of zero wins and multiple losses to inanimate objects... Nearly Nil-sighted Nebo!!!!

In the other corner, weighing in at 4 ounces, with a record of zero wins and zero losses.... the Small Type Menu!!!!

I even had a little flat flashlight thingy on my keychain for reading menus at Disney,

Cheat! Cheat! I want my money back! Fixed! Fixed!

Yep,, unbelievable,,, they all lied to me!

I would never lie to you, dude.

Believe me?

I AM certain that ALL EARS NET is one of them,,, and I think the DIS,,, and WDW INFO, but they almost all had the hamburger at 10.95, the cheesburger at 11.95 and the bacon cheeseburger at 12.95.
Or the Swiss/ Mushroom burger at 12.95 also.

The Reality?
Hamburger,,, 11.95, cheeseburger, 14.95,, bacon/cheeseburger, 15.95! Just like the last time!

I just checked allears
Cheeseburger - $11.99
Mushroom Onion and Swiss Burger - $12.99

But!
The date at the top of the page says April 2011

I was bummed, once again. No, not because I am that cheap,,, it's just that 16 bucks for a burger seems like I am being held up! That's sirloin steak territory.

That is excessive. You should be able to get two really good burgers for that price.

But I got it anyway.

Yeah. I would've too.

I grumbled the whole time I was eating it, but I got it anyway, and it was very good, even the fries were good.

I honestly think, that for that price. If it had been anything less than good (i.e. not just okay) I would have sent it back.

And for those that remember, no, we didn't get the waiter that tried to upsell us on everything and make me feel cheap like the last time we were here.

Come on. Be honest. Isn't there a little part of you that kinda wishes you got him again?

Just a note. Exact revenge on waiters after it's too late for him to spit in your food.

Just sayin'

It just ticks me off that they know everybody's got that voucher,,, and peoople that usually USE vouchers,,, are burger and fries kinda people.

And what, exactly, is wrong with burger and fries people???????????

Take your time.

I'll wait.

and stuffed to the point of defcon 1,,,

Okay, now? Now is the time you do your business?

You know, I'm starting to creep myself out, now.

we now get to head on out and venture into the vast DisneyWorld Terrain, which is going to have to include the crossage of a major road,, to get to the HEss station to pick up beer.

croissant? Did somebody mention croissants?

Oh.

crossage.

More danger. Less filling.

Ten minutes later with an 18 pack in my hands,,, once again I am waiting for the "Hand" to give me the signal when it's safe to walk.

Hey! Watch my hand. I'll give you a signal.

Oh, settle down. Just kidding.

Heaven forbid I flip off St. Nebo.

Sheesh.

and it will not change to green until this "K" car has safely passed,,, in 35 minutes,,,, that'a why the hour breaks for the hand.

If I had a $1,000,000 (If I had a $1,000,000)
I'd buy you a K-car ( a nice reliant automobile)

We both remembered, without even mentioning it,, when we got off the bus we both walked over to where the plastic cups were put,,, and they both still sat there until we reclaimed them.

What? Nobody picked up two dirty disposable cups? Wow. You are lucky!!

As I undressed that night,,, I took off my shorts,,,, and removed the little airplaine bottles that I think by now might be getting a complex,,,,, this is two nights in a row now that they came for the ride,,,,onl y to return, unused.

All I can think of is the word 'excess'... don't know why.

Wow,,,, are we losing it?

Nah, just losing readers. But we're used to that, aren't we? Fun chapter, dude. Thanks! :goodvibes

Nope no ponzie stealage there. I even had everything quoted nicely there from YOU. Silly.

I have yet to read his report yet, sorry ponzie.

Oh, geez. No apologies. So many TRs... so little time. Anyone wants to wander off to my TR is welcome. Those who don't, no hard feelings

I'm usually lurking and get the courage to post about once per Nebo trip report. It's quite intimidating to attempt posting with such famous DIS folks as Pkondz, ThumperMan, Nebo, Smidgy, Winkers, MonyMony, GreatBiscuit...as you can tell with my measly 87 posts in 3 1/2 years.

I'm only going to speak for myself here.

Okay, YOU! You out there in lurkdom!

KNOCK IT OFF!

If you want to post, just go ahead and do it. Nobody here is going to judge you, or your writing. If you have something you'd like to say, I'm sure Nebo would love to hear it. Besides, the more the merrier.

And while it's nice to be mentioned as "famous". I ain't been around here that long. And I certainly don't write so well that it precludes others from doing so.

I don't rite so good. I justs rites lots.

So post away!

there was something in the news about a global helium shortage, of all things. :confused3

Show of hands. How many people out there have no idea where helium comes from?

wow! someone remembers him! but now, why did I use the term "Leisure suit Larry" as a verb? (hint: mad magazine once did a parody on "what if compueter game characters behaved like that in real life?")

Well, you've already answered so there's no point. But I do remember playing the game. I remember the first time Larry "got lucky". I didn't know what they'd do. I laughed when I saw the censored black bar jumping up and down. I was a little disapointed too. :rolleyes1:

Yes, it's not a Nebo trip report unless it's a Nebo "TRIP" report.

 Good one!

not known for my patience! the first time we played that game, we didn't go to the drugstore first to buy condoms. after the "black bar" episode,... Larry died.:guilty:

Oh, an educational game!!!:teacher:

You just wanted an excuse t use that smiley.

Ok,,, that's it,,, I gotta get back downstairs before I become just one big puddle sitting here.

Well, partly. :rotfl:

This weather is brutal. I washed my car this afternoon, and my eyelids were sweating. It's gotta let up soon.

not known for my patience! the first time we played that game, we didn't go to the drugstore first to buy condoms. after the "black bar" episode,... Larry died.:guilty:

I did the same thing. I figured it was too easy, but what the heck.

$16 is a bit steep for a burger I dont think I would have ordered it, just on principle. I like a regular burger anyway, so it would not be a sacrifice. Great chapter, Nebo.

Ponzi, nice BareNaked Ladies reference. I love that song. They do the theme song for Big Bang Theory, too. Bunch of fast talking Canadians.

They do the theme song for Big Bang Theory, too. Bunch of fast talking Canadians.

Yes... and yes. I remember my DSis heard of them way before they "made it". She had their album and brought it so my folks could hear that song.

They didn't get it. :lmao:

Wooo hoooo :cool1:
I finally got caught up on Nebo's report after weeks of languishing around 6-8 pages behind. So many comments I wanted to make, all forgotten now

I must say congratulations on the reunion, happy anniversary, happy father's day, happy fourth, and I'll throw in a happy birthday and a happy Christmas just in case I miss a few of those too.

Show of hands. How many people out there have no idea where helium comes from?

Well let's see, since Hydrogen comes from decomposing water (hydro) then it stands to reason that Helium comes from decomposing Hell (closer to the truth than it sounds). By the same logic, it also stands to reason then that Nitrogen comes from the Night and Oxygen comes from the barn.

Hard to think that there could be a shortage of Helium as it is one of the most abundant elements in the universe. And coming from Hell is true; although most Helium has been around since the big bang (or since God created everything - your choice of views), new Helium is constantly being created by nuclear fusion in stars.

That reminds me of another gaseous pet peeve (not THAT gas); paying extra to have Nitrogen pumped into your tires. Since the air we breathe is about 80% nitrogen, there's not a whole lot of difference between air and nitrogen in your tires, certainly not worth what a lot of garages charge you.

Can you tell I was a wiz in Chem for many years! :cool2: (Bill Nye rocks!!!)

wanna post,,, hot,,, too hot,,, room spinning,,,,aaaaaaaqhhhhh!

I don't think I've enjoyed any of those pre-made drinks.

Been a while since I"ve "enjoyed" any either.

sipper cups

Another Neboism coined.

You mean another corny Neboism.

Did you guys have room for actual clothes in your suitcases?

That's funny, I can see how it can appear that way, but we are checking TWO bags,, and we each also have a carrion AND one personal belonging bag you're allowed.
The Foos ball table was a bit much though.

When we upgraded at Magic Kingdom the girl taking care of the transaction was a little confused.

THAT is EXACTLTY what we read on line about doing it there,,, and that the best fplace to upgrade was at DD.

I forgot to get the discount in the gift shops a couple times. You get 10% off in most of them. We got the most use out of the Tables in Wonderland card. It's an extra $75 but if you're eating at any table service places you get 20% off the entire bill including alcohol. It saved us a lot of money.

Ten percent doesn't sound like a whole bunch to me.

Was that the same year you did the smartest thing ever with the water park tickets? Do they cancel each other out then?

Um, no,,, the water tickets trick took place in May of '10, it was a trip I didn't do a trip report on, there wasn't time.

:lmao: Shooting will do that to a person.

Every once in a while she' pops in,, this would be a great time, Melinda.

And those tricky Planet Hollywood people don't put prices on their online menu.

I stand by my crankiness, 16 bucks is still too much.

Well, there's a sweeping generalization.

Oh, because I said burger people are voucher useing people. Well,,, guess you're right, does sound like I'm taking liberties there, doesn't it?
Ok,,, I"ll fix it,,,, I'm really just stereotyping myself in my views there.

Why did the Nebo cross the road?

Well, in this case it was because Smidgy told him to.

There wasn't a pedestrian button?

Yes there was, but we didn't need anymore pedestrians. And I got tired of "Talking to the Hand".

Poor, sad little bottles.

Great chapter Nebo. Thanks!

And thank you for your warm, considerate comments.

So you're saying Oxygen is an ox-ee-moron?

Hard to think that there could be a shortage of Helium as it is one of the most abundant elements in the universe. And coming from Hell is true; although most Helium has been around since the big bang (or since God created everything - your choice of views), new Helium is constantly being created by nuclear fusion in stars.

Give that man a cheroot. But that's not where the helium that you get from the balloon store comes from.... or the helium in the DTD balloon either.

Any other guesses?

That reminds me of another gaseous pet peeve (not THAT gas); paying extra to have Nitrogen pumped into your tires. Since the air we breathe is about 80% nitrogen, there's not a whole lot of difference between air and nitrogen in your tires, certainly not worth what a lot of garages charge you.

Do you have a Costco with a tire center near you? They'll fill you up for free if you got your tires there. Only the last two times I went (had a slow leak) they didn't bother to even ask if I bought my tires there.

Later they fixed the flat for free too. I think Nebo gets free tire service too. Pretty sure I read that somewhere. :rolleyes1:

Carrion? Carrion? Carrion? Hansel? Carrion?

Teacher moment: Carrion is rotting flesh, carry on is what the airlines allow you to take with you on a plane and charge you outrageous fees for doing so.

Laura drinks a lot, I read her TR, 10% would be huge!

They do encourage menu corrections just saying...........

My Dmom was a teacher and then a trustee and finally a principal for years and years. A lot of her friends were, naturally, teachers.

Which is why I'm smiling as I type this.

Re: carrion.

The teacher didn't do her homework!!

Go back a TR or two and you'll see the history of the Nebo carrion.
Nope. Not a misspelling.

HEH,,, Carrion my wayward son,,, ther'll be peace when you are done.....

I read all of Nebos reports, I don't remember this. Can someone please give us the Cliff Notes version?
