Hi,

We currently have a ressie at CS but we see that the swan/dolphin is offering a govt rate of $149/night for govt workers. For folks that have stayed at both resorts which one would you choose? Is the standard rooms at the S/D ok?

Thanks

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

I have stayed at both & love them both. But, Swan/Dolphin wins hands down. IMHO, they are the best resorts to stay at on Disney Property. Given the rate, it's a no brainer to me, as much as I love CSR also.

Swan/Dolphin are truly Deluxe Resorts with Deluxe amenities, service & Location. Even the standard rooms are awesome, with those delightful Heavenly Beds that are like sleeping in a Cloud. Walking it & out of Epcot/MGM, the endless dining possibilities within a short walk, the Grotto - As much as I love CSR, it just can't compare....

Hmm, I would think that one's dining plans might play into this. The $35/$10 day meal plan is not available at the non-Disney resort but on the other hand, if the meal plan isn't a good deal for you, then that's not a factor.

I would think that dates *might* be a factor in that a rack rate at CSR (for dates including free dining) is cheaper than the room-only rate at the S/D quoted by the OP. OTOH, the AAA rate at CSR plus *paying* for meal plan is more expensive than the rate quoted for the S/D....the difference could presumably represent your food budget at S/D. (if you wanted to stick to the costs of the CSR stay).

I've stayed at both as well, and if given a choice, I'll go with the Dolphin every time!

CSR is a moderate. The Swan and Dolphin are both deluxes in every sense of the word. You will get the convenience of the same location as BC or BW, but for 1/2 the price.

There wouldn't be any thinking about it for me. We love the Dolphin, I am sure the swan is great also..but we have always stayed at the dolphin (many, many, many times).

You get the big comfy beds with the great bedding. The large rooms, great food options. Wonderful ammenities, soaps and such.

I've never stayed at CS (no desire to since I lived in New Mexico for many years--it just doesn't appeal to me) but we are die hard Dolphin fans and would stay there hands down over a moderate.

Fantastic location, incredible beds, great service...what's not to love? Plus, all the points I've earned on my SPG card allow me to have many free stays at other Sheraton/Westin hotels. And so far, I've always been upgraded at the Dolphin. I've never been upgraded at a Disney hotel.

We have really loved our stays at CSR, but the Swan is a great resort & you can't beat the location. Being able to walk to Epcot & MGM would be the clincher for me!

One of the great things about staying at the S/D (or any Epcot resort) is right after Epcot's Illuminations as everyone is sprinting to the front of the park to leave, you can either take a nice stroll back, or grab the Friendship Boat back to the resort.

Most of the time we walk back. It's usually cooler by then and it's a nice way to end the evening.

Thanks everyone for there great advice. We decided to stay at the Swan..with the govt discount we got a rate of $149/night....now we can enjoy all the beautiful xmas decorations and not worry about fighting the crowds in the parking lots and it will be alot easier getting around with our than 1.5 yr old.

Thanks Agin

We booked the Nurse rate for $149 in July. It wasn't just the location, it was the queen beds. They have the most comfortable beds!! Just what you need after a long day.

I've stayed at CSR and the Swan. The Swan wins hands down for location, luxury, hospitality, dining options, proximity to parks, and service.
