We did this years ago without any problems, but seeing as how things are constantly changing I was wondering about now.

Mousesavers.com recommends doing this for saving money at lunch, but they also say some places charge up to $4.00 for the extra bun. Of course with that helpful advice there is no list of places where people have run into this.

Anyone run into this and where? We are a family of 7 and It's much quicker and easier to have our lunch places and what we're ordering planned before we're standing in line. :goodvibes

Thanks!

Question- do you have a baby/toddler w/ you????
If so u could ask if u could have just a bun for the baby. That's pretty typical baby food :-) haha.

But yeah- i dont think there's any way you'd ever get a solid answer on this one.
It will totally depend on the restaurant and the person serving u.

We ordered a double cheeseburger with an extra bun in the Magic Kingdom at Cosmic Rays (I think that was the restaurant's name - it was counter service) and there was a small charge for the bun - I think it was about $0.79. It certainly wasn't outrageous. We did this on 2 different days with no problems about 2 weeks ago. The person at the cash register didn't even blink.

Yea a few years ago you used to hear about it all the time and I haven't heard about it in a while. Pecos Bill was one that many people did this at and it was very accepted.
I'm interested in hearing how this has been handled lately also

You could always order a double cheeseburger and cut it in half.

That's what I usually thought - and then people would come back and say they can't do that with kids, they fight over who gets which half. :confused3I don't have kids, what do I know.

I, too, would just order one burger, and cut it in half. If you have kids, let one cut, and then let the other one choose which half they want. :lmao:

I can't do the "cut a burger in half" thing because the meat to bun ratio is all off. :teacher: Too much meat and not enough bun. :)

we used to order the extra bun also, but since they changed the buns to some kinda weird wheat (dry!) bun, we just cut it in half! (and I've read some people bring buns in - wouldnt help us, but if you have a stroller to store buns in - I could see myself doing it - I hate dry crackly buns!! Bring back the soft, steamed white bread please!!)

Same for Me too, I would rather have bun and cheese and forfeit the burger. I would save by getting a kids meal, or no sides with it, or one with a side and one with out.

Well I didn't plan on splitting the burger for the kids, it was for DH and myself. I really don't think a half of burger is enough for him. lol. We usually try and order something big and share it for lunch and then have our own separate dinners. But some places where they have the big double cheese burgers we've done the extra bun thing in the past.

I was just curious is anyone actually has run into being charged more than .$79 for the extra bun like Mousesavers.com said. (and where?)

We get the kids their own kids meals so everyone has their own drink and we don't have to share(My DH will down a large before I even finish my food, so they usually end up with nothing.) Plus the kids meals gives them more than enough food to take the extras with us for snacks later. :thumbsup2 And the baby would share with me since I'll be 7 months pregnant and won't be eating much at one time.
