We are planning a trip for this October with our free dining pin. In the past we have always stayed at a value (and we've absolutely loved all of them), but when upgrading from QS dining to regular, the price difference between a value and a moderate is negligible (maybe $60 more for the entire stay), so we want to try someting new.

The main things we want to know between CS and CBR are which has the better main pool, which has better running trails, how the tranportation to the parks compares, and any other great (or not-so-great) things about either resort. Thanks in advance!

Well, we stayed at Coronado Springs last year. Here are the few things that pop into my head.

-Massive pool, and the biggest hot tub on DW property (I think). And a few quiet pools.

-Good snack/food choices at the lobby restaurant.

-Beaches and trails, good for running.

-Nice beds.

Overall it was a nice stay, but this year we're trying something different.

If it's that cheap to go to CS, it's a much better resort (hands down).

That being said CBR is a lot of fun too.

CS is on the south end of the property, so while you'll have short bus rides to BB and AK, your rides to other parks/DTD will be longer.

CBR is right in the middle of the property, and all rides are 20 - 30 mins, or less...however, there are parts of the resort I'd stay away from.

If you go with CBR, stay in Aruba or Jamaica. (My opinion). They are both close to the bus stops, and also close to Port Royale (the food court/shops, etc) due to the island bridges.

We stayed at CBR June 2011 & CSR June 2012. We LOVED CBR and were planning on going back there. Decided we wanted to try some place new though. We were nervous thinking CSR had ALOT to live up to based on our CBR stay. We are now CSR fans! While we would be happy to do CBR again, CSR just seemed a step above, to us.

We were in Martinque at CBR. Not a preferred bldg but next to one. It was a perfect location as far as proximity to a bus stop, food, main pool & quiet pool. The tropical setting is so relaxing! Rooms have 2 double beds. The marina is fun (we rented a boat twice.) There is a path around the interior of the resort grounds for walking/running/surrey bike rentals. The food court is big. The main pool is nice & themed + has a smaller themed pool for little ones. The main pool always seemed crowded though.

CSR is a convention resort & that seems to turn many people off. We were there in June & it felt like we were the only ones there! We were in Cabanas 8B & again, perfect location for ease of getting to a bus stop, main pool, food & right across from the quiet pool. The grounds are lush & beautiful. The gift shop is HUGE! The main pool is HUGE! and our kids loved the slide! + roasting marshmallows at night. There are pool games each afternoon but we were always at a park so missed those. The room was big w/ 2 queen beds. It is slightly Disney-fied but not in your face. One thing to consider is the food court is a buffet for breakfast & lunch. Being on the DDP it is an excellent use of a credit (although you can't share so that could be a down side if you end up with too much food.) Dinner is still ala carte & portions are big so you could split a meal & save a credit. There is also a trail around the resort lake for walking/running. While there used to be a marina it is closed now.

While DH & I agreed CSR wasn't quite as "Disney" as CBR seemed to us (couldn't really put our finger on why, but that was our conclusion) we would pick CSR over CBR just for the "empty" feeling of it. After pushing & being pushed at the parks, it was nice to come back to the resort & feel like we were the only ones there.

Each resort has a thread on here with lots of pictures and lots of opinions. Yes, both are big, but we liked that. The tropical theme of both appeals to us over some of the other moderates. Enjoy the planning & have a great trip, wherever you end up!

I have stayed at CBR but not CS so I can't compare but I can tell you a bit about CBR :). We absolutely love the resort, it is so beautiful, tropical and quiet.

CBRs main pool was refurbished recently (I believe the new pool opened in 2009) and is pirate themed. The pool is zero entry has a pirate ship water play area with slides and a bucket that dumps water on you. There is also a spa. In addition to the main pool at Old Port Royale, each village has its own pool as well.

As far as running trails, CBR has beautiful trails around the resort. CBR is the largest of the WDW resorts, there is a trail that goes around the resort as well as Caribbean Cay a scenic trail with hammocks, cabannas and a play area along the way. You can rent bicycles and various watercrafts at the marina on site.

Transportation...as always with any resort glitches happen that can throw things off schedule. We have had pretty good experiences with the transportation at CBR though. There is an internal bus shuttle that circles the resort and of course your park buses. Each village has a bus stop, buses stop at each bus stop before leaving premises.

Have fun on your trip!!!
