I have gone through so many posts and have pretty much figured out that the TS restaurants at WDW are going to be fabulous w/ regard to our new gluten-free diet. :) However, I'd like to know how the CS restaurants do.

We are on the DxDDP and, while I have most of our credits accounted for with TS ADRs, I do like to leave a few credits free for a quick CS meal. Namely, my kids are dying to go back to Pizza Planet (we didn't know they had Celiac the last time we went!) - is it silly to think we can get a GF pizza there?

How are the CS places, in general, about providing GF foods? Should I just book all of our ressies this time as TS meals to avoid any problems? :confused3

Yes you CAN get GF pizzas at WDW and yes you can get them at Pizza Planet. Some places make them using Ener-G crusts and other places use premade Amy's pizzas. My kids can't eat either due to other allergies but I do know they're available. Food courts at resorts seem to have the Ener-G crusts and the chefs can customize the pizza with any ingredients that they have. The Amy's I know they carry at Pizza Planet but I don't know where else.

You should take a look over at the disABILITIES! board for more info on GF dining at WDW.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, you can also get hamburgers and hot dogs on Ener-G buns and the allergy chicken tenders are delicious.

CS locations that carry allergy foods like these do also carry some kind of gluten free baked good whether it's the French Meadow brownies, French Meadow chocolate chip cookies or Enjoy Life Chocolate chip cookies so you'll also be able to get a dessert at these locations with your dining plan.

Contact the Special Diets department to find out which CS locations are recommended for people with allergies. These are the places that are most likely to have the most options for you.

My son has eaten g/f on the past 3 Disney trips and we have found it to be very easy, even at the CS locations.

The best tip I can give you is to arrive at CS opening to get more attention and better service than arriving at a peak meal time, and ask to speak to a manager. Disney has a list of CS locations that cater to food allergies on its website: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/special-dietary-requests/

We especially like Cosmic Ray's at MK; the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans was a great g/f meal that was a nice change from the same old Ener-G bun and burger.

Disney sent me a list of the actual g/f foods offered at each of the counter service restaurants. It was great to have that before our trip so my son could make a few choices when he wasn't overwhelmed by looking at a menu of things he COULDN'T have. I'm not sure that they still do that, but here's the email if you'd like to ask: SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com

Finally, take your kids to babycakes in DTD!! It is dessert heaven for people with food allergies. They have all the stuff that g/f people have been missing...cupcakes, brownies, doughnuts, etc...and it's GOOD. Really good, not just some lame imitation of 'real' desserts. We go twice: once at the beginning of the trip to stock up on special snacks, and then on departure day to take home some of the goodies.

I hope that you have a magical vacation! As a g/f mom, I know how nice it is to let someone else worry about your family's food allergies for a while. Disney does such a great job with it that I can let them worry for me!

Thank you SO much for all the helpful links/info! I am def. going to go to Babycakes...and am so relieved that we can still go to Pizza Planet! I somehow missed the thread in the DISabilities forum covering CS restaurants. :)

I have reviews in my TR (link in sig) of several CS restaurants. At Pizza Planet specifically, you can get either an Amy's pizza or one on an Ener-G crust. As mentioned, the GF chicken tenders are great! Do be prepared to wait a good bit longer for your food than you would otherwise...our average wait was around 30 minutes. We found it helpful to have a general idea (based on the information Disney will e-mail you) of what different places had in advance, because, while almost any CS place can accommodate you, some had a lot more selection than others (at Yak and Yeti CS, for example, we were offered a burger w/ gluten free bun for the kids or a chicken salad for the adults--no other choices).
