CS credits on DDP

I'm still trying to work out if the DDp will be for us

we are 2 adults and 2 kids (5 and 3). I'm happy with the TS part of it, as i know our kids will happily eat whats on the kids menus without fuss, but the CS menus concern me. Most of the kids CS meals in the parks are just not to our kids taste. If they're was nothing they liked could we use our 2 adult CS credits and buy another adult meal OOP for them to share, then save the kids CS credits and use them for breakfasts in the resort food court where i know they will like the food. If we do this would it be frowned upon if we helped them to eat their kids CS breakfasts, as 2 kids breakfast platters with a couple of fruit cups would be sufficient for us for breakfast along with the cereals we will have in the room.

Thanks

When we would purchase CS meals, we just used our CS credits to get whatever, and we didn't have a problem getting one adult CS for 2 kids to split. This was at Pop Century, so I don't know if it is true everywhere. I have heard only one report of a CM limiting the amount of CS meals purchased at one time based on the list of Adult and Child credits on the back, but on your receipts it does not differentiate between kid and adult, just CS credits, period.
So if you have 5 nights worth of credits, for 4 people, you get 20 CS credits total. You could used 8 CS credits in one day, no problem, you could use 3 adult at one meal, no problem. I didn't stress to much about using the credits for the correct person, b/c sometimes I ate a kid's meal, as they were good and big. And, as I said before, if the kids ate an adult meal, they usually shared. AND, we didn't use up all of our CS before we left, so it all came out in the wash.
Now, that said, I don't condone ALWAYS using adult credits when you paid for child. But use your best judgement. I don't think it is right to intentionally defraud, but I do think the plan has some built in leeway, so that most of the time you would not need all the credits you paid for anyway.
Make sense?

I don't want to start up anything, but I'm confused. We've never done the DDP before, but are considering it this year. Our daughter is 8 years old and doesn't eat a whole lot at the time and is especially picky! So if we are going for 5 nights, 3 people we will have 15 CS credits. If the CS meal is big then my and our DD could share, therefore using only 2 CS credits (1 for DH and 1 for me and DD together). So DH and I could each order off the adult menu and not have to worry about the child's menu. Does this sound right?

Also, are they labeled as 10 adult CS and 5 child CS's, same for TS, 10 adult TS's 5 child TS's?

I'm not trying to rip Disney off, I'm just trying to understand. I know that if we get the DP me and DH can share at some TS Dinners, and DD can order from child's menu. Can me and DD share at TS Dinners? So confusing!! :headache:

Yes you can order the 2 adult CS meals and share with you DD or do this order 1 adult meal and the kids meal that you like and the 3 of you share the 2 meals. Since we had 6 in our group several times I ordered my meal and 1 child meal, my DMIL and I and my DGD shared the 2 meals. Keeping the adult meal for a breakfast etc to share like the above. There are many menus and there may be a time when your DD fiend something she likes on her plan. Hope this helps :sunny:

We just got back and did the dining plan with 6 people, split between 2 rooms, so the credits were divided between 2 different cards. It was extremely confusing to keep track of, until we realized that there was NO distinction on the cards between Child and Adult Counter Service.

When you read it on here, it does sound like "cheating" to use it for an adult meal, but it really comes out in the wash in practice. All of the credits are just lumped on one card (one card per room and they just randomly decide how many kids and how many adults to put on each card). There is no distinction on the receipt between remaining kids credits vs. remaining adult credits. If they did that, I would have been able to keep track, but w/o that info, keeping up with kids v. adults on 2 cards would have made me crazy.

You can use the credits in whatever way or combination works for your family. There is really a LOT of food on the dining plan (every CS meal also includes dessert, which we would not normally order), so we ended up pooling CS credits most of the time b/c and just splitting 3 or 4 CS meals between the 6 of us.

I agree that the kids meal choices are often just weird -- what is up with the hot dogs in beans??? To my kids, that's just weird and NO way were they touching it!!!

and the fact that they include apple puree with all the meals, my kids haven't touched that since they were weaning onto solids, what is wrong with just smaller portions of the adults meals, such as a mini hot dog, or slice of pizza and salad :confused3:

No, you are understanding things right with your first part of your post. You would have 15 credits of each type, and you can share meals with your dd.
They are not listed as Adult or child in the system as of right now. There has been discussion of that changing, but nothing so far.
You can share with dd all the time if you want. Like I said, after the first CS meal or so we always shared, as it was too much food, and we already had 2 that were not on the plan. (Under age 3)

The only thing you might run into problems on is if you order 3 adult CS meals at once, but some have reported no problem sharing with non plan participants to use up credits, so that's not a given either.

It really ends up being simpler than you are imagining. I was so stressed about it, but we had a great time and really enjoyed the plan (and I had 6 kids to figure out how to feed! LOL)

I agree with the weird kid choices. Just as a cultural reference though, here in the states, at least in some areas, apple sauce is considered a common side dish. We used to have it all the time with meals growing up.
But I can see how if you equate it with baby food it would seem like a REALLY weird addition to a kids meal! LOL
