During our September trip, a gf, her dd3, me, and my dd4 will be staying at GF.

We will be on the DDP, but our TS ADRs are for breakfast and lunch. We will be using our CS credits for dinner. We realize that we aren't maximizing the value of the DP by doing this - but this just works best for our schedule.

As it works out, 4 out of our 5 nights we will be in the MK area during dinner time. From our February trip, I am fairly familiar with the CS inside MK. However, we stayed at SSR and have no idea about the CS choices inside the MK resorts. We will probably eat dinner two of the four nights in MK, but the other two nights we would prefer to eat in one of the resorts.

How do the CS options at Poly, GF, Contemporary and WL compare? For that matter, is there a way to get to from GF to WL? We will not have a car.

Thanks for your tips!

I checked some online reviews and menus for the CS options at MK resorts...it doesn't sound very promising.:scared:

Can anyone shed some light on the CS at Poly, Contemporary, GF and WL?

We had lunch at Captain Cookes at the Poly and thought that it was pretty good especially because you could have a Dole Whip as your dessert.

I've had CS at both WL and Poly and they are both good - about the same really. I can't think of anything in particular that I liked at one versus the other. It's pretty much fast food type stuff - burgers, flatbread pizzas, etc.

I'm pretty sure you can take a boat from GF to the Wilderness Lodge, you may have to switch off at MK but it should be doable...

One thing you could do for a CS dinner is take the monorail over to Epcot from GF and have the fish and chips (CS at UK) - these are soooo good if you haven't tried them.

I read somewhere that counter service at the deluxes is not like the CS at the mods or the values. I don't believe that they intended it to be like a normal CS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Do they have a CS place at Fort Wilderness? Thought about checking that out myself when we go. Not to say that the deluxes don't have some CS, just not to the extent of values and mods.

At the Contemporary their regular counter service location the Food & Fun Center closed last September and their new one which is to be called Chef Mickey's Express is not suppost to open until August 14, 2008 according to a post from another thread. So until then they have place called the Tempo Grab & Go on the 4th floor just in front of the Concourse Steakhouse, until Chef Mickey's Express opens. They also have another location called the Sand Bar which is located by the pool, however the only seating there is outside and their hours can change at anytime.

Besides that my family and I have also tried Captin Cook's at the Polynesian and Gasparilla Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian. Both locations are great however we would rank Gasparilla Grill & Games above Captin Cook's, because we like their menu a bit better.

As for the Wilderness Lodge we have not been to Roaring Forks since our last stay there in August 1999, so I can't remember how their food was.
