Day 7- Nov 18, 2002
(as with the other 7 parts, the version of the report full of photos can be found at www.lovemanythings.net/disney/2002index.html)
Another beautiful morning at Disney World! I had plans to meet my friend Katt around noon to go to Universal, but I decided I could spend the morning in the parks. After a quick breakfast, it was off to Magic Kingdom! I decided to start out with Toontown, since I had never been there before. I toured Mickey and Minnies houses, which were both very cute! After a bit of aimless wandering around the MK, I decided that I was hungry, and that a turkey sandwich from Aunt Pollys would hit the spot. I took the boat over to Tom Sawyer Island, only to find that Aunt Pollys didnt have turkey sandwiches anymore! The injustice! Please, Disney, bring them back! Youre breaking my heart here!
Determined to have a turkey sandwich now, I decided to take the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge, where I picked up a turkey sandwich, milk, and a brownie (I can never pass up the brownies!) I was having a lovely time relaxing up on the fourth floor by the fireplace with my lunch when some random woman came and sat down in a nearby chair. Now, there is one sofa and two chairs set up by this fireplace, all very close, and I kind of felt like my privacy was being invaded, as I was really enjoying being alone. So, after some consideration, I packed up my little picnic and moved up to the fifth floor. Its a good thing WL has lots of fireplaces!
Katt picked me up around 1:30 for our trip to Islands of Adventures. Since she works there, I got a free ticket- woohoo! We stopped by the spot where our friend Ash was working, and found out that she couldnt get off work for a few hours, so we set off to explore the park. Our first stop was the Spiderman ride, which was a walk-on. Katt said it usually has at least a 90 minute wait, so being there on such a slow day was great! The ride was really different from anything they have at Disney, but all of the jerking around hurt my back. This is when a horrible thing happened! Katt was carrying my digital camera in her bag, and accidentally dropped it! It only fell about six inches, since her bag was hanging down near the ground, so I thought it would be fine, but when I turned it on, it made a loud clicking noise and said system error! I decided I would get it checked out later, and told her not to worry about it (Heh, I ended up having to get the zoom replaced when I got home-over $200! Think I can sue Universal for having such hard sidewalks?
) At least this happened on my last day, and all of the pictures I had taken so far were fine. Whew! We did Posidons adventure next, which Katt had told me wasnt all that great, but that there was a really neat part where you walk through a tunnel of water, which made the rest of it worth it. The attraction turned out to be just what she said- the water tunnel was really cool, though! We rode One Fish Two Fish, which was a lot like the Aladdin ride at MK, and then the Cat in the Hat ride, which was really cute.
Next we went to Margaritaville over at City Walk, where I had some mango cheesecake, since I obviously hadnt had enough cheesecake on this trip
I really enjoyed this restaurant with the constant Jimmy Buffet playing, and the big margarita volcano- its a fun atmosphere! I also bought a salt shaker in the gift shop, or should I say that it was A lost shaker of salt
It says Margaritaville, Orlando on one side, and Searching for my lost shaker of salt on the other. Ash met us at Margaritaville, and since she wasnt in the mood to eat there, we went to TGI Fridays in Orlando.
Theres not much point in making a separate entry for Day 8, as theres really not all that much to tell
I made plans for Mears to pick me up at 11:30, and instead of trying to fit in a few park hours, I decided to sleep in, pack up, and spend the last of my time enjoying the resort. Funny enough, after all of that rain, today was perfect weathe! I took the Mears bus back to the airport, and my flight was uneventful, and on time (Ever notice the ones going home are never the late ones?). Overall, it was a great trip! I missed having company this time, so I think that I will try my best to get someone to go with me next time. I got a chance to try a lot of attractions that I had never tried before, and had the pleasure of a very leisurely trip (Which of course I kicked myself for when I got home- why did I spend so much time sleeping?).
Now its March, nearly four months later, and Im going through major Disney withdrawls already, and starting the plans for my next trip as I finally finish this report! Sorry it took so long, and sorry for any of the details that are missing due to lack of notes and the fading of memories over time.
Now its time to say goodbye! See ya real soon!
