Crystal Palace: which meal?

I'm planning a surprise trip to WDW this summer, including a meal at CP so that DD can see her beloved Tigger. Since it's a surprise, I can't ask her which meal she'd prefer. We're going during Free Dining, so cost isn't an issue. I'd rather not do breakfast, as we can get eggs and pancakes anywhere, but it would free up the rest of the day. OTOH, lunch might make for a good break, or dinner a fun ending to the day. Arrgh! I'd greatly appreciate input about the food or character experiences to help me decide.

I'm not a big lunch fan so I've only had breakfast and dinner there. My girls LOVED breakfast over dinner. They loved the food and the marching around the room.

I love that when we have breakfast we can get a really early ADR and have MK practically to ourselves. Great photo opps.

Dinner is great too but my girls preferred breakfast.

Good luck deciding.

We have done breakfast and lunch at Crystal Palace and loved both of them. Breakfast is nice because as the above poster said you can the MK to yourselves after breakfast. Lunch is nice as you mentioned the break in the middle of the day. Enjoy

I have to vote breakfast, because CP has the best breakfast in WDW, IMHO.

There isn't a big difference between lunch and dinner, I don't think. So, whatever fits your schedule is fine, I'm sure.

It is sooo hard to plan surprise trips, without getting input...but I'm sure you'll do a great job. (my apologies to anyone offended by elipses...;) :))

Have a great trip!

Our favorite meal in all of Disney World is Crystal Palace for breakfast. What we like to do is eat a snack in the room ( poptarts, cereal bar, ect..). Then we get to MK early and do all of Fantasy Land. After that we go to a late breakfast at CP. It really works as lunch. We have tried dinner at CP and it was OK, but their breakfast is great.

We eat a quick snack, granola bar, on the way to the park, do as many rides as possible. We make the latest reservation possible for breakfast which we use as a brunch. This allows us to skip lunch (to save money), finish the park early afternoon, to beat the crowd and heat, head back to the hotel to swim. We eat an early dinner and head back to the park to do a few more rides and watch the parade and fireworks. Breakfast at Chrystal Palace is always very good, and this schedule always works well for us.

We have eaten at CP twice for lunch and have been impressed with the selection both times. We are trying CP for dinner in August.
