Crystal Palace or Tony's for Dinner?

We really like Tony's for either lunch or dinner. Tony's doesn't get a lot of love here on the DIS, but we do enjoy our meals whenever we go there, it's not fancy but it is good. We like to save Crystal Palace for Breakfast, we are not really fans of the dinner there plus we like to make an ADR for before the park opens.

Anywhere but Tony's. The food is fine however, the hostesses have been so rude on 3 seperate visits my dh will not go in with me anymore. I am not allowed to book it.

Anywhere but Tony's!!! THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE! Its the worst meal i've ever had at disney, and possibly in my whole entire life. Awful. Their tomato/marinara sauce is the worst i've ever had. I'd recommend Crystal Palace. We've had lunch and dinner there before and have ALWAYS had great meals. They have a nice selection. Plus its gorgeous in there. Tony's atomsphere blows, just like their food. Terrible.

Tony's is DISGUSTING!! I would NEVER ever go back to this place. EVER. I agree with what goofyintoronto just said.

I would suggest Crystal Palace. All our meals there have always been good.

:thumbsup2

The meal I had at Tony's was the worst I've ever had...ever. I will never go back there.
Crystal Palace is much more fun (characters) and it's a buffet so there's more variety! May not be the BEST food every but it's 1,000 times better than Tony's.

I say go to Tony's if you want to wait over an hour past your ADR and get food that may be good or taste like yuck.:scared1:

Crystal Palace is fun and bright and has Pooh and his friends. The food is good and the wait from your ADR is on time.:thumbsup2

Crystal Palace because I LOVE Pooh bear!:rotfl: Tigger isn't bad either. ha! It is so much fun no matter what time you go there and I have never had to wait longer than 5 mins to get in.

Crystal Palace!!!! Year after year the food there for dinner is delicious. Lunch too! Lots of variety and everything tastes good. NO complaints from my family of 4 ;)

I have done dinner at CP twice, and Tony's once. Unless I see them change their menu and chef, I will not be returning to Tony's. Honestly, the dish I had there was no better than a frozen Italian meal I heat up in the microwave. CP is a buffet and I have always found dishes that I like there.

I hear good things about Liberty Tavern, but I have not eaten there...yet.

We have eaten dinner at both Tony's and Crystal Palace. My husband loved the buffet at Crystal Palace! However, our family tradition is to eat dinner at Tony's on the first night of our vacation. The food at Tony's has been inconsistent. We have had amazing service and food on some occasions and on one occasion both the food and the service were terrible. Crystal Palace is a buffet with characters and a little more lively atmosphere. Tony's is great for a more relaxing dining experience. On our trip this Fall, we are planning on eating breakfast at the Crystal Palace and dinner at Tony's.

On our last trip, we had dinner at Tony's. The folks at the host stand were wonderful, our server couldn't have been nicer, and my steak was delicious - my sister said her spaghetti and meatballs was great, too. That being said, if I had to choose one, I'd always choose Crystal Palace.

The food is hot, fresh, and creative. The servers are pleasant and efficient, and I've never had a complaint about the service. Seeing Pooh and Piglet and Tigger are so fun! It's just always a specially good time when we eat there - relaxing, bright and cheery. And let me share this - the last time we ate there, my DD and I both chose some tabbouleh from the salad bar, and when we tasted it, we both agreed that the parsely hadn't been rinsed correctly, and was gritty. We didn't make a big deal about it, but I did call it to the attention of our server, and asked him to let the kitchen know. We continued eating, and who comes out of the kitchen but Chef Paul, the head chef, to thank us for letting them know (he tasted that batch and agreed with us about the grit, and tossed it). What a special thing to do, and he could not have been more gracious and charming - it was a very nice moment in our day.

So I'm a CP fan, hands down, although Tony's is good, too (and let me say this about Tony's - I don't know that I would have enjoyed myself as much in the front room - the chairs looked uncomfortable, and with the tile floor, it just seemed very 'clattery' - we were in the back room, which was much nicer, IMHO).

We are doing Crystal Palace for breakfast and Tony's for dinner the first night. I have read the mixed Tony's reviews so hopefully we have a good experience. I'm not looking for fancy italian.

here's a tip i wish someone would have told me before i went to Tony's. Stay AWAY from the marinara sauce. Anything with marinara/tomato should be avoided. Ppl who have had the steak or the calamari for example have all said their meals were delish. So im thinking thats the way to go. Good luck!

Thank you for all the advice!

Another question...how does Tony's compare with Olive Garden? We are Italian and love great Italian food but we will also accept Olive Garden type food as well.

Ive had quite a few dishes at olive garden and i thought they were pretty good. Tony's is far below olive garden in my opinion. I know many ppl on this board would say its the same as olive garden, but no way in heck. no way. FAR FAR below. i'd say more along the lines of chef boyardee.

I really dont think you can compare Olive Garden to Tony's. Tony's is so gross. I do not find Olive Garden gross at all. Our meals have always been decent.
