We are going to Night of Joy in September - would you pick Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's for a character meal before the concerts. If we do CP we are already in the park - though, CM's would only be a monorail ride away. Thanks for any insight.

Two years ago we ate at Kona before MNSSHP and the monorail broke down on the way to the park and we were about 45 minutes late getting there. I highly suggest eating in the park. We are eating at CP this year before MNSSHP.

I really like them both--CP has better food, but CM is the quintessential Disney experience to us. Since you'll already be in MK, I'd go with CP as my first choice. Enjoy!

CP is always very good, CM is not great at all....we will not go back there.

Which characters do you like better? Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore or Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale?

We loved Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace last summer. SO I would base it on your character preferences.

What meal are you going for? We've done breakfast at Chef Mickey once and lunch at Crystal Palace twice.

We just got back today from our DW trip and ate at both places. Both were good but we LOVED Chef Mickey.

We loved both i would go with the one that has the charters that you most want to see

If your primary concern is convenience, I would do Crystal Palace. We did not go to Night of Joy in 2006, but we were in the Magic Kingdom one of those days. The MK was closing at 6 pm, I think, and the park was getting really crowded, and on the way out, the crowds coming into park were huge for that time of year. The earlier you get there, the less wait you'll probably have.

Just an FYI -- I tried to make ADR's for CP for the 9/21 MNSSHP, and they were either all booked or at least really late. Any night that there is something big going on, the ressie times are really late. Better hurry and check it out soon! My second choice was CM, and it was booked as well.
Good luck!

Don't let the idea of taking the monorail talk you out of CM if that's where you end up. We went there before MVMCP last year. Were going to hop on the monorial but had a really long line. Ended up taking the walking path over to the kingdom. Very easy to do & I would do that over going on the entire monorail loop any day.

That's like asking Pooh or Mickey?

They are both (decent) buffets with easy accessibility in/from MK.

If you've never been to the Contemporary, go to Chef Mickey's. That way, you get a look at the hotel, too.

Otherwise, stay in the park. The less time wasted, the better - right? :)
