We really wanted to try Crystal Palace for breakfast because I hear great things but I don't think we are going to have time.

We have an open "slot" for dinner. We are staying at the Poly and already have dinners planned for Ohana. We did 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's last trip and don't really want a repeat so we were thinking Crystal Palace.

Thoughts? (oh, there are 18 of us. will we fit?)

we did dinner there last year and scheduled again this year. The food was really good (the Mediterranean chicken was excellent).

With 18 people you'll be broken up over lots of tables in a section.

CP is pretty close quarters as well and like any character buffet CAN get loud.

We at at Crystal Palace for dinner last year & found the food to be just ok, average-at-best. We love CP for breakfast and is a "must do" on each trip, but probably will not return to CP for dinner anytime in the near future.

If you like Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare, I suspect you will enjoy Crystal Palace. All the major character buffets are pretty similar.

I last had dinner there a few years ago. It was decent, but I'm not rushing to return. The food is typically better at breakfast. It's a lot more difficult to botch eggs and bacon than steak and potatoes.

Good luck!

We have been to Crystal Palace for breakefast many times and loved it, but never tried for dinner until someone else visiting the park told us to try it because they really liked it. Well, I am glad we did. We really like it for dinner and I also think the Mediterranean chicken is excellent , that is one of my reasons for returning. I also agree that if you liked Chef Mickey and 1900 Park Fare, you'll like Crystal Palace. They have a great salad bar too. Also, if you have a lot of kids, they would enjoy seeing Pooh, Tigger, Eyore and Piglet. I think this is the only restaurant that has those characters. That may be reason alone for going there.

This is how we feel also- the food was OK buffet food, but nothing spectacular!!! I prefer to have a server bring me my plate instead of having to walk around and carry plates of food. It is also difficult to eat at a buffet when you have small children like toddler or infant...

OP- is this your MK day, so it needs to be in park or nearby...or can you expand the radius and maybe eat over in Epcot??

DH and I both liked CP for dinner. No it's not gourmet-it's buffet food, but I just wanted to see Tigger. I did however think the chicken nuggets were amazing. I know-it's a chicken nugget, but OMG. NOT a typical nugget.

my family always does crystal palace dinner on our arrival night we love it the food is good and the characters are great also the inside is just very nice

We enjoy dinner at Crystal Palace! :thumbsup2

I'm a picky eater and my BFF is quite adventurous. While you won't find any exotic foods, they do have a decent variety of both plain and seasoned foods--which works for us! They seem to maintain the food temperature well, and the dishes are replenished frequently.

Definitely better than the buffet at H&V. The occsional dish has been good there, but overall, it doesn't seem very good at maintaining food temperature. That might be due to the Fantasmic Dinner Package traffic--not sure.

My DW and I went in Dec. 08 and really enjoyed it. It is buffet food, but good buffet food. Don't expect gourmet food and you won't be disappointed. The character interaction was some of the best we ever experienced. The CM orchestrating the interaction was excellent. He came around to ensure all the characters had made it to our table. When we informed him that we missed Pooh, but that it didn't really matter (no kids with us), he set up a special meet and even took photos for us! He really went out of his way to ensure a great experience. We enjoyed it so much we are taking our DGD there three weeks from tomorrow. Can't wait.

Hmmm...we could go over to Epcot to eat dinner. Everyone in the group likes World Showcase.

The night we have open is our AK day. AK closes at 6:00 p.m. and I know everyone will want to go back to the Poly afterwards (or will already be there if they left early for an afternoon break) so I was trying to find a place near or easy to get to from the Poly. None of us will have cars.

California Grill (my choice) was voted OUT!:sad1:

There are so many wonderful reviews for CP dinner though.

Oh so many decisions....

This is one restaurnt I am hoping to visit. :lovestrucI am a HUGE fan of Pooh. :lovestruc

I was undecided at to whether we should go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Either way, I would just be happy to meet Pooh.

If you don't mind waiting then take one of the last seatings of the evening so you are there at closing. I know this sounds strange. However if you do this you can get picks with the entire pooh gang at once. I mean a group picture. Not just one character at a time. Now this was back in 2006 but my sister was able to do this last year also. My DD, who was 11 at the time, has a number of disabilities so she can get overwhelmed at times. This time was no exception. When the tears started streaming she got all kinds of attention but you could still see her beaming through them. We have been back a couple times since then and the first thing she asks is if we can go back to eat with pooh again. So go for it I say. :cheer2:

We love CP for dinner! We have never done breakfast, mainly because we love the dinner so much we don't want to skip it to try the breakfast! This November we have an ADR for dinner for our first full day at the world. It is one of our "givens" when I make up the ADR want list. The prime rib is sooo yummy, as is everything else!

I'm glad osee good reviews of CP. we are going in 5 days and have ADR's for 8:45pm so we can chill before EMH's start.
