Okay, here's the scoop: I'll travel to Florida solo in may. Have done plenty of solo trips in the past, been to Disneyland CA and the Universal Parks in FL. I never had a problem going solo, I totally enjoyed myself. The trip in may will be my first ever on-site WDW experience. I've only been to MK and HS once for a day each when I was still a teenager.
I hardly do any sit down meals though, since eating alone always is a little weird. But I have done it on some occasions, usually at places like Planet Hollywod or Hard Rock Cafe where there's a lot to look at so I never got bored or felt too weird.
Now I'm trying to decide wether a character meal in WDW is okay for solo traveller? Maybe I just need some reassurance that I will be fine.
I totally love Winnie the Pooh, especially Eeyore and Piglet so I made a dinner ADR for Crystal Palace.
Will the characters still spend a reasonable amount of time (enough to take some pics and get some hugs) beeing there solo?
Please share your experiences...hope I'm not the only one to ever go solo to a character meal :guilty:

I had never done a character meal until last year and it happened to be at the crystal palace. I totally loved it!! the handlers will bring the characters to you so you can have a photo op it you want it. breakfast was great, and it was my time to figure out what else I wanted to see that day. I read a little, sent some text messages and totally enjoyed my "me time"
the hanlders were more than happy to take pictures for me and no one really notices that you are solo.

I took a solo trip in August...had dinner reservations at the Crystal Palace...had a blast, like always! :)

I've dined twice solo at the Crystal Palace, and twice solo at Chef Mickey's, and had a great time each meal.

You will have a fine time too. Enjoy it!

Yay...sounds like a solo character meal is fun after all...thanks everyone!

I've done several character meals, including the one at the Crystal Palace. My favorite characters are Eeyore and Tigger. The only thing that was a little unsettling was that when Tigger came over, he "asked" me (I could tell by his hand gestures) where my tablemate was. I guess, because I'd recently met someone newly widowed, I was thinking how upsetting that question might have been if it had been her (the recent widow). However, he was probably just "asking" in case my tablemate was in the rest room or something, so that Tigger could make it a point to see him. Fortunately, I was able to tell Tigger that DH was at home cat-sitting for Tigger's namesake, our Tigger.

With family & friends and solo

I love that the characters come to you. Have your camera ready and enjoy everything. The buffet for dinner is really good. I usually enjoy CP for breakfast.
