We had a prepark opening 8:05 am reservation. We walked down Main, took one photo pass pic and I checked in at the hostess stand at about 7:55. At 7:57, they texted me our table was ready.

Our server Laverne was fabulous! The food was great. My DS5, had pancakes, strawberries, grapes and cheese that he devoured. I had bacon, eggs, cheesy hashbrowns and pooh french toast. All was good, I really liked the hashbrowns and would have gotten more but the characters kept coming and I didn't want to miss anyone! My husband ate everything and enjoyed it all.

The character interaction was wonderful, each one was fantastic, so sweet and just what I hoped for.

My DS was wearing his birthday button and Laverne surprised him with a cupcake, we sang him happy birthday and she gave him a card signed by all the characters.

We were done and out at 8:50am.

Based on our experience, I highly recommend Crystal Palace for breakfast.

I see a lot of people talking about the food being terrible. The last time I went wasn't as good as the first but the food was never terrible. Compared to some pricing of other restaurants, the food+character interaction is well worth it for us.

We always have breakfast at Crystal Palace on our last morning. We like the food and the character interaction.

We're also doing the Crystal Palace Breakfast on our September trip. Can I ask if you noted your DS's birthday on your reservation or just told them at check in? We're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and 1st trip so we're wondering at what point you inform servers/ADR's?

Make sure you stop by guest services and get a "Happy Anniversary" and "First Visit" button. It will be at the front of any of the parks or if you are staying on property they usually give them to you at check in if your special occasion is on your reservation. If they don't offer just ask - it's fun and easy.

Wearing the button can make your visit more special just with lovely wishes from CMs and sometimes guests all over the parks and resorts. And usually wearing the button sparks the conversation about what you are celebrating and leads to the CMs helping to make it more special at certain restaurants but these are always a surprise and something CMs decide to do and are not guaranteed. For example I wore my birthday button for most of our trip and never expected more than a smile and hug during a character interaction but had breakfast at Garden Grill and asked for the check and I was brought a piece of cake with sprinkles and a candle and Chip and Dale conducted three CMs who sang and sang and sang -- happy birthday backwards (facing away) and a short version (on their knees) - totally unexpected and very appreciated particularly as i was dining solo while DH was working at a conference at a nearby hotel so it can prompt something special but doesn't guarantee it.

Hope you have a magical celebration.

We did not tell anyone, our server just noticed DS's birthday button. As a matter of fact, we did not tell anyone at any restaurant, but he was given a cupcake at Tusker House, Whispering Canyon Café and Chef Mickeys as well.
