I reserved an 8:05am Crystal Palace breakfast (8/8/16) for a party of 8 instead of 9 and I need help! I've already tried calling and seeing if I can add 1 more person to my reservation to which I was told NO! I just told them that I was looking over my reservations and noticed that this one had the wrong number in my party and wanted to add one more to it....

So I've seen threads on here saying they've had success with getting this issue resolved but how? Is there a code or secret to say to the rep to get them to add 1 more person? Should I keep calling and telling the same story to them or what?? I really want to hang on to this reservation, as it is a great time to have and I do not wish to give it up... We are coming to Disney for my 40th birthday and my parents (who have not been to Disney since 1992) will be coming with us! So I want to have fun experiences for all of us....

So what can I do? Should we all (all 9 of us) just show up on that day of the reservation and play stupid to see if we can all get in or what? I'm planning to keep looking on the dining to see if a cancellation pops up around this time but other than that I don't know what else to do... Any thoughts/suggestions/tips for how to get this resolved (without canceling) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Shanti!

Hopefully someone will be able to answer this:

For option 4: If we show up at the gate, to get to the breakfast reservation, will they still let all 9 of us in, even though my reservation says for 8?

it depends - i have been seeing more reports of people being turned away at the restaruant if they have more than their reservation states

Last time I had an early CP reservation - they counted heads before letting us into MK early - my reservation was for 5 and 5 were allowed in. I did originally have only 2 - but when my niece and her husband and their daughter were able to join us at WDW and I was able to add 3 by calling Disney Dining - and this was less than 2 weeks prior to our May arrival. So my best advice is to keep calling...you may also be better off splitting your group as into 4 and 5 with reservations at the same time or close to each other - maybe see if that's a possibility when you call....I was able to do that to add the 3 extra to BOG. Called every day - multiple times a day and with about 4 days to go - they had an opening for 3 people within 5 minutes of my original reservation - so we grabbed that one and were all able to go in together and sit together....

Since you already have a reservation for 8, try looking for a second reservation for a party of 2. It will have to be under a different person since the system won't let you have two reservations during the same timeframe, but at least everyone will be assured of park entry which could be a problem if castmembers at the turnstiles are not letting extra people into the park prior to opening. Once at the restaurant ask if you can be seated together. CP opens at 8:05 so you have a very good chance of all being seated together since they will have plenty of tables to work with.

I had a group of friends with an 815am BOG for 4 try to get into the park with an extra person and they were told no. This was a couple of weeks ago. If they won't let you book the extra person then the restaurant will be at capacity. Even if you do get past the front gate the 9th person may may not be seated. IMO trying to cheat the system and play dumb is pretty rude anyway.

AGREE.

I'm surprised there are so many threads like this. You could search and get about a billion results of this.

I've seen plenty of posts through the years with people trying to cheat the system in one way or another. I just didn't read this one that way. They made a mistake and are looking for ways to fix it. Honestly, for whatever reason, I've always seen empty tables at CP when we dined there before the park opened. I bet if they show up with 9 people they won't have any trouble. Given the demand for BOG though, I would not make the same prediction for that venue.

I'm not trying to cheat the system...I made a mistake and was just wondering if they would let me in or not! I'm looking elsewhere for this information.

I appreciate the rest of the helpful suggestions but to be called a "person trying to cheat the system" is not necessary. I'm an honest person!

It may have started out as a mistake but this here pretty much sounds like trying to cheat the system.

Showing up with an extra is never a great idea. And if they are indeed counting heads at the gate, it won't work at all. Keep checking for an ADR for 9, or for 1 or 2, and ask that you be seated together. Or go to Touring Plans . com and sign up for their ADR finder. I had great luck with that! I was just able to get an ADR for pre-park open at Akershush with it.

As a worst case, Bog is showing availability at 8:15 that day. You could hold that to guarantee entry and hope for one more spot for CP.

Really? I prefer to assume positive intent

Planning a Disney trip has gotten so complicated! Between adrs at 180 days, fast passes at 60 days, booking an extra after all used... It's gotten as complicated as managing my multimillion $$ projects at work! Or close to

So if someone doesn't do it perfect, let's help them rather accuse. Not nice and uncalled for

Op, you have gotten some great suggestions, good luck adding your extra person!

My advice is keep calling and trying. I was able to add 1 to a PPO CRT breakfast and a BOG dinner in one phone call a couple weeks ago. The CM said it was disney magic :)

Of the 9 people going- any of them under 3 years old? if so-change the party to the adults-adding a high-chair to an existing table is easy. They did this for me several times while we were there in April.

This is not recommended for any reservation. Because of fire code regulations everybody needs to be included in a reservation regardless of age, eating or not. If a party shows up at a restaurant with one extra person (even an infant) it is possible that one person in the group will not be seated. While castmembers will do their best to seat everyone, as shown by your example, there have been instances where it didn't work. We were at a DW restaurant one evening when the restaurant would not seat the extra person in someone's group.

Additionally, for the OP, the reservation is pre-park opening so there is the added possibility that the castmembers at the turnstiles will not let someone in the park without a reservation.

I see what you're saying, and yes it was an honest mistake. But trying to fix the honest mistake honestly (trying to modify the ADR, make another ADR, etc) is the stand up thing to do. Playing dumb at the gate and trying to skirt the system just is bad form IMO.

They will accommodate you if they can, if they cant, they will say so. Reservations have nothing to do with a the fire code, nor is cheating a response.

OP from the Mom's panel:

Hey Megha-

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your August trip will be filled with sun, fun, magic and memories. My family loves dining with the Beast at Be Our Guest Restaurant as well as all our friends from the Hundred Acre Wood at the Crystal Palace. When you make advanced dining reservations for a party of two yet want to change it to a party of four you will need to contact 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) to speak with a Cast Member in Dining to help you. Likely your two party reservation will need to be cancelled and rebooked for a party of four. The restaurant, however, may not have any reservations for four people available or you may need to change your dining time. If you cannot find something for all four of you then I would keep your reservation for two people and see if you can add two more when you check in for you meal. The only risk you have is if you keep your two person reservation and are unable to add two people the day of your dining experience then decide the day of your reservation not to dine at the restaurant, you will be charged a cancellation fee.

I hope this helps you. Please stop by again with any other questions.

Enjoy making many Magical Memories!

That's a nice answer but it doesn't address the ADR being PPO. I believe that is the main problem here.

And fire code determines seating capacity of a building so, building full = no more ADR.

So if they can't accommodate the one additional person, they will say so at the podium, and that one person will have to sit outside and wait. Who has been harmed in that arrangement?

People ask all the time here what will happen if someone in their party is sick and can't make it or if they will be penalized for making an ADR for one more than their actual party size (since that's all that was open).
