I wasn't going to make a reservation for this, but I decided yesterday that if I could still get one for before the park opened, I would book it so that I didn't have to fight my way down Main Street.

I managed to get one for 8:40 on a day when the park opens at 9am, what time will we be allowed in and what time do they start letting people in? Would we be kept outside until nearer our reservation time, or could we get into the park closer to 8am when the restaurant opens?

As I remember it we managed to get in at least an hour before our reservation slot. We had plenty of time for photos down Main Street, lots of them from the different PP photographers, we then wandered over to CP when the time was nearer.

As long as you have a breakfast ADR, they will let you in when you arrive, half an hour earlier is plenty of time to get pics down Main Street without the crowds :-)

I would go in early and register early aswell. When you arrive at Crystal Palace there is a kiosk to regiter arrival, then they call you in when your table is ready. I would have photos and do what you want to do on Main Street then go and register! :thumbsup2

As you can't get into any of the lands and only have Main Street and the huh area 1/2 an hour would give you plenty of time. We normally check in and we are never seated on time. You get given a buzzer so they can let you know when your table is ready.
We love to have an ADR at pre opening times it's wonderful to see an empty Main Street and if you wonder up to the castle you can see into an empty fantasy land as well.

Thanks.

All I'm bothered about is getting into the park without the crowds because that really put me off MK last year. Half an hour before sounds like it would be plenty of time, so I'll be happy with that!

What time does the ferry from the parking lots start running ? Not sure whether to get the bus from SSR or to drive over. DW loves the ferry ride over on the first day. But we have a 8.15 ADR

The ferry starts running half an hour before park opening.

I read the best way to get there was the resort bus, rather than driving. What would people suggest?

We have always drove when going at that time of morning. The car parks and tram are operating as normal so we never had a problem getting into the park with plenty of time to spare.

I would also suggest checking that MK doesn't have EMH on the morning you want to make a reservation.

Can I just say I love the DIS forum. As I was unaware you could do this. I just assumed everything opened when the park did.. :p

So after reading the thread, I have booked my slot for 8.20am - so what time could I get in? I'm staying at the Swan, would I be able to get a bus around 7.30ish to get in there just before 8?

I'm so excited and will be able to get some great shots of Main Street.. :)

I think that's what we'll do rather than relying on buses. I'd got it into my head that we'd have difficulty getting out of the car park for some reason, so we needed to get a bus.

Me too!

Tusker house is another one that comes highly recommended before Animal Kingdom opens as well.

I don't know what time the buses start running, but I did read that there's a bus running for the breakfast reservations, so you should be able to get to MK before the restaurant opens at 8am. We'll probably drive though.

When we went last October, I was so worried about missing our ADR that we got a taxi from CBR to the transportation centre and then had to get the monorail. It was very quick and easy :-)
