Crystal Imaging @ EPCOT

I'm using my daughters sign in because I'm usualy a lurker but I'm hoping that you guys can help.....I'm hoping that someone will know if they still do this. I remember seeing it somewhere in EPCOT where they take an image of your head and lazer it into a piece of crystal {making it 3-D I think}. We lost my 16 year old nephew a week ago today in a car accident and would love to have this done for my sister and brother in law. I also thought that there was a stand that you could also buy which gives off a soft light to illuminate it?

My sympathy to you and your family for your loss. You can still get crystals made (or at least you could last I was there) but I am not sure about the soft light to illuminate it.

You are thinking of the area in the Kodak part of the Imgaination Pavilion, after the Imagination ride. I'm not sure that they can take an image off of a photo, though... Maybe one of the locals can find out for you? I will be at WDW next week & could check but there are many others who could find this out for you much quicker.

If you haven't already done so, I think you might be able to post this over on the Community Board, get a little more coverage for your inifo request.

I just punched in 3-D Crystals into seach, and comes up with all of these sites that offer the crystals.

They don't say anything about the light bases, but I found a site www.scottscollection.com that was offering them for $3.99. We also found the light bases at the flea market in Orlando (I can't remember the name of the flea market, or it's location, but it was one of the really big ones with like 3 or 4 buildings).

We actually don't leave until Aug. 20th so I do have some time to hopefully find out. I've always wanted to do his with our daughters and now I think that we definately will this time. I just remember thinking that they were beautiful. Could I have possibly seen this at Mouse Gear in Epcot too? Thank you for your thoughts, it's been a very difficult week so we're looking forward to just getting away to our "happy place" with our girls!

Yes, I believe they still do these. You can find them at the end of the exibits in Journey into your Imagination. I had one done of my children and am looking at it on my desk even now...

I am so sorry for your loss.

Hopefully I can help. My BIL got my sister a crystal image of my 2 nieces done in December. They have them at the huge Mouse Gear store at Epcot. The display is near the scrapbook supplies.

I don't know if they can do it from a picture you bring to them though. When my BIL did it, they took the picture there and then lazered it into the crystal.
And there is a lighted stand that you can buy
seperately to go with the crystal.

I would call Disney and see if they can direct you to talk to someone at Mouse Gear to see if you can use a picture that you bring with you. The crystals are really beautiful. My sister loves hers. I hope they can do it for you.
