Is this possible, or if a person is crying and there is no water coming out of their eyes, do you think they are faking?

By crying, I mean making the crying face, eyes squinting, voice cracking -- everything that would indicate crying EXCEPT tears.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but my question arises because, in a fit of intense boredom, I've been watching Couples Therapy season 4, which includes Farrah Abraham. I never watched any of her reality shows, but throughout this entire season, she's cried but I've never seen a single drop of water fall from her eye, or a hint that her extensive eye makeup saw signs of water either.
They just had her mother on for an episode, and her mother cried the same way. It made me wonder if they are both just fakes who were acting for the camera, or if there are people out there who really do cry without producing tears . . .

Yes, I'm bored.

She is a hot mess and is fake crying.can you say personality disorder?
My mom had one and did the same thing.

I knew Susan Smith killed her boys because of her "act" Casey Anthony, need I say more?

My grandmother was never able to shed a tear, but she had a medical condition that caused it. It was strange (and rare) to see her "cry". Had all the facial stuff going on-just no tears. I do believe this condition, when real, is very rare.

Seriously, one has to wonder. I mean, she's saying such emotional things that I don't think I could say those words outloud, even as lies, without tearing up. I'm a crier though (and maybe a better actress ;p) . It's hard for me to believe someone who is expressing what seems to be such deep emotion but then nothing actually coming out.

When I cry there are tears. However as a previous poster remarked there are conditions when people are unable to produce tears - autoimmune diseases which can be genetic. Also dry eyes could be the issue?

I don't know the show or the people on it but always take a grain of salt (and a margarita) if I'm ever bored enough to watch reality TV shows.

Fake crying, see it all the time in trials as well. This is a t.v. show and they want you to believe they are crying.

1. It's possible. I have a close relative with an autoimmune disease that affects all of her tissues that create moisture, and this is sometimes one of her symptoms.

and

2. This person has been on multiple reality shows? My guess is she's totally faking.

It's a Bachelor/Bachelorette phenomena. I have extreme dryness (Sjogrens) and when I cry there are tears.

Heck, I tear up even when I'm fake crying. Or laughing, for that matter. All I have to do is squint and I have tears. I used to turn on the waterworks all the time when I was a kid, and I could turn them off just as fast.

So ALL crying makes me suspicious, tbh. I'd definitely be looking for other clues that she's faking.

Dry criers. Watch a murder mystery and if you see a dry crier, you have your killer. They scrunch their eyes, their mouth screws up, they lips quiver, their voices quake, in short, they give every signal that they are crying, EXCEPT not a single drop of moisture leaves the eye. They are DRY criers. They are faking. They know exactly what a crying person is supposed to convery and look like, but they have no genuine emotion to bring on the tears. So they do al the physical signals, except the water trailing from the eyes.....because they cannot.

This is different from a person who is all cried out and has no more tears to give. That person simply cannot cry anymore, but they will not do the lip quiver, voice shaking, squinchy face thing. They may be stone faced or have flat expressions instead. Totally different ting.

A dead giveaway for a guilty person is that they are a dry crier.

I'm voting faking it. There is probably the rare person with a medical issue but these reality tv types are acting and faking it. Masters of manipulation.

Farrah.....ugh don't even get me started on her. She is the fakest person on that show and just keeps finding ways to get her name out there. She is comparable to Kim Kardashian but Farrah is just an ugly person, especially to her mother.

Farrah? Definitely faking.

Personally, I've cried to the point that i "ran out" of tears but the sniffling, sobbing continued. But I think that's different than just not shedding tears at all.

Her mother seemed like a real gem too, but admittedly I know none of the Teen Mom backstory.

In Farrah's question, I am 100% positive she was faking every single time. At some point it just made me wonder if it was even humanly possible, or if this was a real thing that happened to less dramatic non-tv people in real life (but obviously not her)

I think I read/heard somewhere that severe dehydration would lead to a lack of tears as well. . .But then you'd also see skin "tenting", cracked lips, and a swollen tongue. Of course, I may have gotten that from a bad Sci-Fi source so, make of that what you will.

Yes, Casey Anthony perfected the art of crying with no tears.
Unless you have a condition where you don't make tears, then no, I can't see how you can cry without at least moist eyes. Heck, my eyes get moist before I start actually crying.
