Any guesses where it will fall in size wise?

Can someone give me the order of sizes at the WDW resorts?

Is it -
VWL
BCV
BWV
OKW
SSR

Where will AKV fall in that list?

Thanks!

Hmmm... since it will be a hi-rise... I would say smaller.... or equal to the smallest.

Don't know about contemporary...

But AKV will be bigger than BW and BC but not as big as OKW or SSR.

AKV is between OKW and BWV in size. Since DVC has made no announcement about another resort there is no information about the size of a new resort.

Here are ths size of the current DVC resorts:

OKW - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 274 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 230 Lockoffs - 27 Grand Villas = 531 Units / 761 Max. Available Rooms

VB - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 18 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 36 Lockoffs - 6 Grand Villas - 112 Inn Rooms = 172 Units / 208 Max. Available Rooms

HHI - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 76 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 21 Lockoffs - 5 Grand Villas = 102 Units / 123 Max. Available Rooms

BWV - 97 Dedicated Studios - 130 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 0 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 149 Lockoffs - 7 Grand Villas = 383 Units / 532 Max. Available Rooms

VWL - 20 Dedicated Studios - 27 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 44 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 45 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 136 Units / 181 Max. Available Rooms

BCV - 36 Dedicated Studios - 20 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 78 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 74 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 208 Units / 282 Max. Available Rooms

SSR - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 360 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 432 Lockoffs - 36 Grand Villas = 828 Units / 1260 Max. Available Rooms

AKV - 46 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1BR villas - 140 Dedicated 2BR villas - 250 Lockoffs - 22 GVs. 134 villas within AKL (opening summer, 2007) , 324 villas in a new building (opening Spring, 2009) for a total of 458 Units / 708 Max. Available Rooms.

More reason to buy there instead of at AKV then. I want CRV for location since we're MK fans, but sometimes I question myself when I think about AKV's theming. I'm glad we own at two of the smaller resorts, seems like it is becoming harder and harder to book.

Thanks Doc for the info.

I have to now group you with LisaS in the "best information" category... Where do you get such excellent data? This is very interesting info... I had no idea that BC was nearly as small as VB...

With SSR, AKV, and soon to be CRV... I am thinking the beach resorts are going to be hard to book in the future.... since there are only two of them and between them just barely equal 25% of SSR in possible rooms.

So the order would be(from Doc's data)...

Resort Units/Max Avail
GCV????
HHI 102 / 123
VWL 136 / 181
VB 172 / 208
BCV 208 / 282
CRV???
BWV 383 / 532
AKV 458 / 708
OKW 531 / 761
SSR 828 / 1260

Guesstimating (that is a word isn't it?) from the very rough sketches that have been submitted for permits, I would think that CRV would be at or below BWV's occupancy level.

How about GCV??

My guesstimate (note: Firefox's spell checker thinks guesstimate is a word):

The "C Tower" looks to be about the same size as the current main building at the CR. The building has about 500 rooms. The number of "pods" is a bit higher, as some of those are suites. That puts CRV at about the same size as BCV (536 pods of space), much smaller than BWV (839 pods), and bigger than Vero/VWL, which are closer to 300 pods.

Course, if they end up tearing down the other garden wing and doing another building...

We also have no way of guessing, except for the footprint of the building times the number of floors...but the totally unknown factor right now is how much (if any) of the high rise will be DVC units.

If this is a combination DVC - Disney Suites building the DVC portion could be any portion of the building...it could be the smallest DVC, or a fairly large DVC relative to other DVC locations.

I think someone say 350 - so I have using between 300 and 400 units.

remember a 2-bedroom is a lot bigger than just a room. so is a 1-bedroom for that matter.

the top two floors are the GV - that is a definitely.

but I agree with Doc - nothing has been say by Disney. although I have never seem a 3-bedroom in their suites. they may have a couple but the entire top 2 floors are 3-bedroom at CRV (okay hope it will be CRV)

also there is a restuarant on the bottom floor - so that leaves 13 or 14 floors.

maybe I should get my b to look at the plans again (if he can) and see if they are like OKW and SSR - only one unit - or BCV, BWV, AKL - 2 units one on each side.

I am going go out on a limb to say size on par with OKW with much smaller square footage and no 3 bedroom units. I think it will be sleek and loft-like, a la IKEA or New York City lofts - with much smaller kitchens & of a more loft/suite desgn than apartment/condo. The location will sell itself and smaller units will help balance out demand and justify keeping costs/points on a similar scale with the other resorts.

I think this is one reason AKV is so big (2 bathrooms and 5 in 1-bedrooms) - the location was a negative, so they gave it something special to draw people. CRV has the monorail. It will be a draw no matter what.

Refresh my mind - when AKV went on sale did we know before the sale date? Or was it SURPRISE! this is the day today?

And did we know the number of rooms before the sale date?

If CRV is gonna be small I want to buy points quickly, if it is gonna be mammoth I won't feel the urgency.

I really hope they'll have guaranteed views, another reason to own there.

AKV was announced last fall and sales began on February 1, 2007 at $101 for existing members with new sales starting in March for first purchasers at $104. The pricing for existing members increased to $104 for everyone on June 4, 2007. Incentives have been available since sales began.

The start of sales was announced well before February 1 and one of the incentives was to have your name on the tapestry.

Well as of today I can safely say CRV and GCV are tied for the SMALLEST DVC resort. Total rooms announced equal zero.......

This image was drawn from the public filings for whatever ( ;) ) they are building next to the CR tower.

It appears to be a ground floor plan so some of the sections are taken up by resort infrastructure (front desk, gift shop, dining, offices, etc.)

I've highlighted what appear to be mostly 2-bedroom villas, either lockoffs or dedicated. The blue may be a smaller villa--1B or Studio. And above the red there is space for another 2B.

Based upon this, I'd say there will be 7 units on each of the two side columns. The front is a little larger--perhaps holding as many as 10 units. That's about 24 units (7+7+10) per full floor.

I'll take spicycat's word that the top two floors are slated to be Grand Villas. That leaves us with 13 full floors (less ground floor and the top 2) times 24 units or around 312 units. Add in a few more for the ground floor and the GVs and I think we're looking in the neighborhood of 350 total units. That would make it just a little smaller than BWV.

I also happen to believe that if this IS a DVC structure, the South Garden Wing will receive similar treatment in a few years giving them around 700 total DVC units. Granted Disney did put some money into refurbing the South Garden Wing, but I can't see them considering it "mission accomplished" until they have two identical DVC towers flanking the A-frame.

Did I miss something, is CRV a fact or still speculation? Been away from my PC visiting SSR and the PC stays home, vacation = no work! Checking email is work because once I know about something I feel a need to address it. Back to the point I have not heard about CRV being anounced.

Well, there is some sort of construction going on. As to whether it is DVC or not is still speculation.

Many of us have been waiting to see whether the C shaped building was in fact going to be built. This picture and the construction on the ground say yes. The fact that, if it were not DVC, Disney would be leaving $$ on the table by not, in effect, telling SSR and AKV buyers that this was not an available alternative. (And we all know, from personal experience, that Disney never left any of our money on the table.) :rotfl2:

Its a sure thing. Bet on it.
