Anyone have any advice for doing WDW on crutches? I broke my ankle this weekend and we are leaving in 4 weeks.

Crutches would be awfully hard...Maybe rent a wheelchair or something? I'm sorry to hear you broke your ankle. Hope it feels better soon! :thumbsup2

Please post your question on the disabilities board. My Dh broke his ankle a few weeks ago, and we are leaving next week! The people on the other board were great in helping me decide some things renting an ECV and such. Good luck!

BTW - we are bringing the crutches, but will rely alot on the EVC.

I would not use crutches all the time, you will be exhausted! I just spent the last 7 and a half months on crutches and did a trip to Europe with them ....YUCK!! (survived though)

I would suggest two things: first of all, rent an Electric scooter at each park. Bring along some bungy cords or something to attach your crutches to the back of the scooter (or place them with you). Then instead of bringing the whole scooter into an exhibit (although you can if you want), then you can use your crutches inside. That way you will not feel completely dependant on everyone around you and you will feel like you can still move around on your own, using the scooter in between attractions, and your crutches inside.

You will face a few challenges, but remember you will be in the "happiest place on earth" Have a wonderful trip!! :) :)

Thank you everyone...hoping for the best. I will look on the disabilities board.

I went to Disneyland while on crutches several years back. (Severe muscle damage to my leg after a car accident.) There is no way that I would have made it hobbling around on my crutches for an entire day so we ended up getting a wheelchair for me to get around the park.

By doing this, I was able to enjoy the park, and it helped me to still be able to enjoy my visit to the park.

Just make sure that you have somebody to help push you around or get an ECV.

I just got finished with a month being on crutches and my underarms are STILL hurting me. I would NOT do Disney on crutches, ouchie. Consider renting a ECV, you can get them from an off site place... if you are staying on property, they will have it delivered before you get there and it's yours the length of your stay and it's really not to very expensive. I cringe just thinking about doing Disney on crutches.

Have fun in Disney.. hope your ankle is feeling better by then.
