I was lucky enough to be at WDW during Cast Member previews for the new Crush N Gusher slides at Typhoon Lagoon. I am also lucky enough to have a wonderful friend who is a CM, and was brave enough to take DW and I there on a cold and rainy day. Her husband and I were able to try out all three slides. They are definitely ready for the parks reopening (on the 13th, I think).

First off, let me tell you that I'm blind without my glasses, so I'll do my best to describe the blurs to you. Also, it was very cold and rainy, not really a good day to be at the water park, but a great day for riding all three slides without any lines.

There is one line that leads to the edge of the spalshdown pool where the three slides exit. This is where you pick up the innertube. All tubes are double-hole tubes. However, you have the option to ride singly or doubly. We road together all three times.

Once you have your tube, you continue down the line. Eventually, you will reach a point where the line will split into three separate lines, one for each slide. The three slides are the Coconut Crusher, the Pineapple Plunger, and the Banana Blaster. Each slide offers its own unique ride.

When you reach the top of the tower, you place your tube on a small conveyor belt that is not moving. Then you climb aboard and hold on tight. The CM's turn on the conveyor, which sends you and your tube over the edge and down the first hill.

A strong blast of water shoots you back up a small hill, and the water floods over you as you enter the first enclosed tube. From there, it's a fast paced series of twists and turns with another uphill water blast or two to send you flying along. The water blasts are in open areas of the slide, but much of the ride, including all of the turns, takes place in the enclosed tunnels.

It is a short ride, but it's really fun. I had expected it to last longer with more uphill sections. However, I still think it was a great experience.

My thoughts on each slide:

Coconut Crusher: This was the first one I experienced, so that could be why I liked it the best. To me it seemed the wildest, with more twists and turns. Also, I caught some air at the top of the first hill! Loved it!

Pineapple Plunger: I think this was the fastest slide, and it had a cool little double dip in it.

Banana Blaster: This was the longest slide. Another cool ride!

What was interesting though is that as we talked to the CM's who had ridden it, they each had a favorite slide for various reasons. No slide was a bad ride, so enjoy, try all three, and see which one you like best!

Here's a link to some pictures we took on Weds.

Oh yeah, some helpful advice when you try them:
1. Make sure you keep your butt up in the inner tube. It's easy to imagine what can happen if you don't.
2. When you exit the slide into the pool, keep your feet up. I didn't the first time, and we had a major wipeout!

Have a great time when you try it!

Thank you for the preview! You helped us decide between TL and Wet n' Wild. TL, here we come!

Thanks for the report It sounds like and looks like a lot of fun!

Do you think Pooh Size Folks will have problems with this ride at all???

Amy

I'm a fairly big guy myself, and I didn't even consider it. So I think Pooh sized people should be OK.

I can't wait to try these out. Although, I am reluctant to try something called "Coconut Crusher". :scared1:

Thanks so much for the review and the pictures!! Are there any real "big" drops on these slides?? I am pretty much a chicken when it comes to drops, so I was just wondering. Thanks!!

Thanks so much for your review! I've never ridden anything like this. Do you kind of get a "roller coaster" feeling? I like going fast, but I do not like the "drop" feeling.

Also, I wear contact lenses. Does much water spray into your face?

Good question! I too wear contact lenses, but I am pretty careless with them in terms of water and I do pretty well. But splashing in my face can be a problem.

Just curious if these slides replaced something that was previously there, or is it new attraction they built in addition to everything that was already there? Thanks!

They are completely new, and I believe located to your right from the entrance past the changing areas.

From the pictures it looks like they did a great job theming it.

Yes, the slides are in a new section. As you enter the park, you just keep bearing to the right.

The hills are not that big. Definitely nothing like Summit Plummet! And the uphill blasts are not really all that long.

As far as water spraying, yes, there is a lot of it. When you come up over the top of the hill, all of the water that's pushing you upward enters the tube with you. It shoots up and over you from the back, so I didn't get any in my eyes. The first time I hit the bottom, we flipped and I went under. But you can see the end coming and close your eyes ahead of time.

Hope this helps.

This sounds great!!! Can't wait to try all three slides. Thanks for the sneak peek and the review!

Thanks for the report and great pics! Can't wait to try it out next month!

Will my smaller 7 year old (over 48", but scrawny) have a problem holding herself up in the tube? Will "bumping" the bottom of the ride hurt her? Will she fall into the hole in the tube?

Thanks.

Is there a height restriction?
