How do Crumpler 5 Million bags (or similar Crumplers) perform in the rain? I looked at one and it looked to me as if rain would be channeled down the strap into the interior of the bag, just by virtue of how the strap attaches to the bag outside (or next to) the cover flap. Hoping that this makes sense to Crumpler users!

I know they don't come with a rain cover and that a decent size zip loc baggie would deal with it -- but wondering about rain penetration if the bag is used sans cover.

Thanks

I have a crumpler 6 million dollar home and I would say your probably good in all but a all-out thunderstorm. The "inside" that you see sometimes sticking out from the top cover is actually two channel pockets that aren't directly connected to the actual inside of the case. Now, I haven't tried pouring water into these channels to see what would happen but these are so small that very little water would get in them the first place. They also can be pushed in a bit so that they aren't as exposed.

Yeah, I've got a 5MDH and what you see in most pictures does not include the extra 'flapping' inside that would keep you from having a direct channel into the bag. That said, I'm not sure I've seen a camera bag yet that I would trust in an all out Florida downpour. I mean, even if water didn't run inside, the bag would be soaked and would eventually soak through to whatever's inside (and turn it into a steam bath when the sun comes back out). For that reason I always carry a ziplock bag that will hold my bag.
