Cruising without toddlers

We (me, DH and DS--21 months) just returned from the 3 day Wonder. I could not believe how many people came up to me and said they had a child at home his age (there must have been 6 different people). I am not trying to start a debate or pass judgement, I just thought it was strange. I could see going without any children (although we would never do it, DH won't let him spend the night out of our room ), but all of these people had older kids with them. Will I understand better after the birth of number 2? My toddler had a great time and I could not imagine leaving him at home.

We did the cruise with our kids when they were 8 months, and 3 1/2...then we went back alone 2 years later. There was so much we couldnt do with them, that the second cruise was a totally different experience. I wouldnt take 1 kid and not the other unless we had extreme circumstances(sick child, etc...), but I had no problem going without the kids. They definitely get their Disney fix and I think parents need time alone together. Where they choose to spend it is up to them.

I can see taking a cruise without any kids...but to leave one of them at home???? I simply would not do that. I know that DCL is for adults too...but seeing the light in the eyes of my kids is one thing that I am really looking forward to.

Sap1227 I am with you. We cruised twice before our son was born with our dds. When our son was 6mos we cruised again,our daughters were 6 and 7. I couldn't believe how many people commented on us being "brave" for bringing the baby> I couldn't have left him home.BTW he loved the characters and we are taking him back when he is 18mos. He went to Disneyland last month and loved every minute of it.

Hopefully in the next 23 years DH will lighten up a bit (kids don't date until they are 25 right?)
