Cruising with CM Discount

Has anyone ever cruised with a Cast Member discount? We have a family member that is a CM on the ship and he is wanting us to cruise while he is onboard. We have only cruised in Cat 6 before and know that the chances of being upgraded to that category are slim to none. Has anyone ever been upgraded to at least an outside cabin?

We recently got upgraded from an 11 to a 9. Not quite a 6 but was pretty nice imho.
Would Disney differentiate between a discount CM fare and a regularly priced fare if looking at upgrades?
If it isn't too personal a question what type of discounts do they give CM's families. I think its a great perk. Although if it was like when I was on the ship I don't see when you could actually see or visit with a CM.

I wasn't aware talking about this subject would cause problems.
IF it does please don't reply as I don't want anyone getting into problems over something like this.
However for those that may no longer work for Disney or who's anonymity is guaranteed it is interesting.

The cast member rate is run of the house. They put you where they need to. The first people to get upgraded are full paying guests, and then they work their way down. Cast members would be the last to be upgraded.
