Hello-
I am the proud owner and user of a CPAP, not really. Last time I cruised, I didn't have it.

Are there any issues bringing it on the Magic? Is there an outlet near the bed that is easy to find and reach?

Did you hand carry it or did you trust putting it in your luggage at PC? We plan on spending the night at the MCO Hyatt the night before.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks.

I want to know about the outlets for my CPAP too, but I would never trust my CPap out of my possession. It would be in my carry on.

Never check the cpap!!!! Too delicate and expensive. (If you must check it and you have the money to replace it, do it on the way home. Not for the cruise.)

Be sure to let dcl know ahead of time that you need distilled water.

I only know about Dream for outlets. Sorry. (Dream Category V and the inside stateroom we've been in had outlets right at the bed no problem)

The outlets were not next to the bed in my Wonder cabin. The closest was behind the TV about 12 to 15 feet away.

There's been discussions where extension cords, power strips, and surge suppressors are not permitted on Disney cruise ships. However there is some available at guest services.

My strategy.....
  • let the travel agent know you need extension cord for your CPAP
  • go to guest services immediately to pick it up the cord when you board to ensure it's not given out to others.
  • be prepared to sleep with your feet at the wall and your head next to the TV outlet if the CPAP only has a 3 foot cord.

"ALWAYS" carry your CPAP with you.
about the distilled water, if you have a TA, let them know, plus you can call DCL with your RES number, and let them know you have a CPAP.

I have been a CPAP user for over 10 years now....90% on the CPAP's out there are duel voltage......Check your manual/ P/N on line to verify this....

the last two machines I have had are [were] duel voltage, which means you can plug it into a 110v/220v [as they have on the Wonder], the Fantasy/Dream and now the Magic have the 110v plug next to the bed on the night stand....

If & when you cruise on the Wonder, there is a 220v plug on the wall under the head board. That is where the lamps/ clock is plugged into. I found a great adaptor plug for this, I carry with me every where, and it is the size of a 1/2 a banana, here is the link...:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SY5O5K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with this adaptor, there is no more need for an extension cord.

But please check with your manual/ there web site/ and even call your Dr. that scripted you the CPAP to see if it is duel voltage. If it is, then great!

Hope this helps

any questions, please ask

Disney will not let you or your TA request an extension cord prior to cruising. You must borrow one from GS. When we were on the Magic last December, my husband had to use an extension cord and plug in by the desk as there was not an outlet next to the bed. At that time, we had out own extension cord as this was before the rule change. I would recommend boarding and going straight to GS to borrow the extension cord. As everyone else said, DO NOT put your CPAP in your checked bags. Those bags are tossed around and stacked and it will get damaged for sure. Put it in your carry-on.

Now that personal extension cords are not allowed at all, medical need for an extension cord should take priority over those available to other guests -- that is the reason for documenting it on the reservation. Either the passenger or the TA should make sure this is noted on the reservation. An extension cord should be set aside and not just "first come first served."

Enjoy your cruise!

Good luck getting DCL to make that request for you. I was told they won't do it.

I hand carried my CPAP on our last cruise and I will do it again on my next one. We had our TA request the extension cord which we picked up from GS when we boarded. A bottle of distilled water was waiting on us in our room when we arrived. I would have an extension cord requested and make sure it is clear this is for a medical device. Our TA told us that there were limited numbers on the ships at GS so get that request submitted as early as possible.

We were on the Magic in May of this year. Outlets were by the bed. Our TA did request an extension cord, and we had one and distilled water when we went to our cabin waiting for us. We were not sure about the outlets being by the bed, so we wanted to be sure that we had an extension cord in case there weren't. Also, I concur with the others that say carry the cpap machine on board with you :)

To clarify... which Magic cabin type/deck are you going to with the CPAP?

The Wonder is a near clone of the Magic. In other discussions, it was mentioned some cabins have more outlets/lights than others.

My Deck 2 Oceanview cabin had NO outlets by the bed. TV and desk on the other side of the cabin were my only choices.

We were on the Wonder in April and there was an outlet around the bed somewhere I know because he didn't need an extension cord. He carried it on with him for the same reasons mentioned above. Heaven help us if the CPAP was lost or damaged. He'd be in his own cabin!
