For those of you that have cruised while you were pregnant--is there anything that you would do different? Did you tend to be more seasick? We booked our cruise last June and in January I found out I was preggo :goodvibes I will be about 14 weeks when we go--have never cruised before so now I really don't know what to expect! Any hints that could make my trip easier? Thanks

I cruised at exactly 24 weeks pregnant. I found that the slight rocking of the ship actually lulled me to sleep better. I was very happy to not be sea sick at all (and I am prone to motion sickness more than you would want to know.) Fortunately cruising on the ship has never made me sick (whereas there were times that walking against the sailing of the ship by the large windows threw off my equilibrium once or twice ;) )

I hope you have a wonderful cruise! Enjoy yourself and get pampered in the spa (but let them know you are pregnant so they can be sure not to use some of the oils that are not good for pregnant women.)

I haven't cruised while PG but I saw quite a few pregnant ladies on our cruise. They all looked like they were having a good time.

I would recommend drinking plenty of water and taking time out to put your feet up.

Congratulations!

I would strongly recommend travel insurance. You will want to know that you have plenty of medical coverage in the event something goes wrong (not that it will of course) or that you can be evacuated back to U.S. if needed.

Probably wouldn't hurt to mention this to your doctor in case has special advice about food to avoid or excursions that you may be considering that aren't in the baby's best interest.

Have a great time!

I went on the Wonder 4-night at 14 weeks. It was great, actually. I was just over any morning sickness - which fortunately wasn't bad anyway - and could still enjoy the spa (let them know you're pregnant) and wasn't all huge yet to be lumbering around the ship! Good time to go......

Our first cruise was when I was 24 wks pregnant and had a 10 month old. The seas were really rough, so rough that people were falling into the racks at the gift shop and seeing someone vomit in the hallway was not unusual.
Regardless, I had a wonderful time. The only time I felt a little nauseated was on the way to dinner the first night. The ship was rocking alot and it was hard to walk in a straight line. I felt fine after I sat down at the table and didn't experience it again.

I would suggest that you be careful getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I fell into the wall when I got up to fix the baby a bottle because the water was so rough. Bring a nightlight.

Also at breakfast/lunch bring a few snacks like fruit or yorgurt back to your room for later. I found that I was hungry a few hours before dinner but was in the room with the baby for her nap. At the time I didn't find anything that appealing on the room service menu.

And make sure you get a chocolate souffle at Palos. Its a must for pregnant women!

I cruised when 23 weeks pregnant. I felt great the whole cruise.

Call DCL and ask for the "Medical Clearance" form. You'll need to fill it out before your cruise.
