Hi! We have already paid for our cruise and I recently found I am expecting. I'll only be in my 4th month on the cruise. Has anyone cruised pregnant before and did you experience extra sea sickness or any problems? I'm a little concerned. At least I won't be farther along. I understand you can't do it it at all in your last trimester - month 6, 7 & 8.

Thanks for info and suggestions!

Disney regulations are that you can not cruise after 23 weeks. You will be required to have your doc complete a medical form stating exactly how far along you are (you get the form from the cruise line.) The reason for this is simple--DCL is not equipped to deal with the possibility of a premature infant of a viable age.

Talk to your doctor about safe medications/treatments you can take for morning sickness (If you get it, some are lucky) There are many natural remedies you can have on hand.

By the second trimester, most women are past the most severe of morning sickness symptoms.

I cruised when I was 5 mos pregant and did great. I did'nt have any morning sickness, but I did get queasy if I did'nt keep my blood sugar up. I did take the time to pamper myself and rest.

Hello

Myself and my Wife went when she was 5 months...We owned our own boat so we figured she would be Ok..

We were on deck 8...I have to say..She was miserable...Very Sick, she hardly left the stateroom (8544) and we spent the entire cruise in our stateroom practically...

I wouldnt eat without her, so we ordered room service, and I ran up to deck 9 for the food and stuff when she felt a little better..

Thank God for the Kids Clubs...My Daughters had a GREAT Time..

We are going back in August basically for our First Cruise together..

Just my .02, But I wanted to be honest...

Hope all goes well for you

Bobby

We cruised when my best friend was in her 23rd week, so she was right at the cut off. We had a blast. She had no problem with sickness at all. The only "problem" she had was that she got tired out pretty easily and she rarely ever stayed up for the late night buffets. (She skipped the Chocolate Buffet! Can you believe that?!)

She still went Snorkling and got a Pregnancy Massage at the Spa and all the other fun things!

She would totally do it again.

I was very surprised at how many pregnant women were on my cruise in March. They all looked to be doing wonderfully!

I was 2 months pregnant on our last cruise in Sept. I was also worried about sea sickness since I had it really bad the 1st month(Bad enough to need medication) By the time we cruised the morning sickness was gone. I had a pretty good time.

I was able to order the sailaway drink without alcohol, had a facial and manicure/pedicure, went on all the excursions, relaxed by the pool etc.

The only drawbacks were that I was tired alot, we didn't stay up late and enjoy any of the nighttime activities and I had to be on special diet for gestational diabetes (yes I had it right from the start!)

I was also surprised by all the pregnant women on board! I wasn't "showing" yet and would never wear some of the outfits I saw other pregnant women wearing. I mean that as a compliment, not an insult! There were women wearing form fitting outfits and two piece bathing suits. The looked great and you could tell how confident and happy they were.

On our first cruise I was 23 weeks pregnant with a 10 month old in tow and it was wonderful. The seas were very rough. People were falling into displays in the gift shops and many people were sick and getting sick in the halls. I had no problem at all along with the other 7 people in our family that cruised with us. The first night walking to dinner at Triton's I did feel a little funny but nothing severe.

I cruised when I was just entering my fourth month... I tend to get sick very easily and usually take Dramamine and still end up getting nauseous at least once or twice.

My doctor told me Dramamine is not safe to take while pregnant and gave me a prescription for something called the Relief Band. It looks like a wristwatch.. it sends little electrical pulses through your arm and prevents nausea. It worked great.. I didn't feel sick even once! Even when we hit rough waters and the rest of my family felt queasy. And you can always take it off and put it back on if you feel you don't need it.

I think I paid around $60 for the prescription, but I believe it may be available now over the counter. You should check with your doctor or local pharmacy.

Happy sailing!

BTW, I would strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance. That way if something comes up before the trip that prevents you from going, or if something happens while you're on the cruise, you're covered.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll call my travel agent and find out the official cut off date. I've heard to the sea bands and will get some prior.

I think the insurance is a good idea. It would really help my peace of mind. I'm not sure where to get insurance since it has been a while since we booked or if any of them cover pregnancy. I guess I have some checking to do.

So I shouldn't cancel it sounds like?

Thanks again to all who replied. Any more comments or suggestions are welcomed.
