Cruising weather?

We are giving thought to re-booking while onboard our first cruise--- I haven't even done one yet but if the boards are telling it true I'll never want to leave!! So... what are good months to cruise? I think I want to do the Eastern when is the best time to go including weather AND price, I want to make sure we're not going during peak times because of price.... so if anyone has insight to either fact OR opinion on travel months & times I'm all ears!! Thanks so much!!!

Go in January, decent prices, cold in the Northeast, warm in Caribbean. Kids are in school, unless they are taken out, so not as many as during vacation periods.

January in florida wasn't really that warm, is it nice in the caribean? I want it to feel like a tropical vacation, I loved the atmosphere in WDW in Jan, but it wasn't warm enough for pools or water parks... so what's the difference in the clear blue?? Thanks again!

We went in December on the Eastern. St Maarten and St Thomas were warm and tropical. We were able to swim comfortably. However, CC was chilly and very windy. It was still a nice day, but too cold to swim. We went for a bike ride instead. Just be aware that the cold fronts that hit Florida can also push out to the Bahamas and affect the weather there.

We sailed in may last year on the eastern and the weather was perfect, in florida and all islands including CC. We are sailing again(leaving) April 30th 2005 because we loved the may weather and it was one of the cheapest sailings of the year. I think it was only $200 more than the absolute cheapest sailings (winter months) when I booked in december. I would definatly check it out. There are also alot of great people on that sailing.

Yes, and when we sailed last May (5/3/03) we had excellent weather also. Just a very good time of the year to be in the Caribbean.

We froze in Florida in December - had a hurricane diversion in September - almost didn't get to the airport in February ------ so after multiple cruises (8), I can say for sure that I like the April/May time period best!

Was in the 50's in Port Canaveral when we left this January 10, but I had my shorts and short sleeves on because we had just left 14 below 0 in New Hampshire. It was a heat wave. Days at sea were warm, high 70's for St. Maarten, we went swimming and jet skiing, 82 in St. Thomas, was beautiful, 76 in CC and went swimming as well there. Found it a little chilly at night, but still warmer than home. Go on Friday before and you have no worries about missing the boat. We are doing January 2006 for the Western.

Whatever you choose, you will be on the Magic and that's good enough.

I chose January, since late in the month appears to be the less expense of all for 7-Day cruises, it isn't hurricane season (although that wouldn't be much of a problem anyway), and it should be a little less crowded (since school will have restarted by then and it is around MLK day for a free day from work).

I agree with the poster about May and January.

Per the Passporter, early May had a good combination of good warm weather (but not yet killer heat) and low cruise prices as kids are still in school.

January has a good temperature differential, in that the Northeast is cold and the carribean is warmer. However, the swimming water at CC can be quite cool.

We had 59 degree temp when we left Port Canaveral and 69 in Key west.

I'm so glad you all say that May is so great!! This is our first cruise ever & we picked May because there was a special & I saw what the prices did once the summer hit-- WHOA!! So we'll do May, be there in less than a month YAY!!! & Maybe we;ll just book again for next May! I know you all said that its perfect in May, & a little on the chilly side in January, what about the months in between? I know to avoid all school holidays.. the last 2 times we were in WDW was the day schools went back after New Years & the first day of school in September. It's perfect, less crowded less money! So if I avoided presidents week & spring break how are March & April, when does it warm up? I just love to wear a tank top & shorts all day!!Thanks so much you are all so helpful!!
