Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

Hi All, :wave2:

We just booked this cruise (upgraded from b2b out of San Diego) and are sooo excited!!

We have two rooms for my DH, myself, our twin DDs (9), and a family friend. Deck 2, main dining. This will be Disney cruise #5 (Mexico, Alaska, Bahamas (2)) for us and we are excited to finally be Gold! :)

Also worried about school for my girls and crossing my fingers the teachers will help us with providing assignments.

I requested to be added to Facebook and would love to be part of the FE as well. :)

Looks like a great group!

Booked this morning. Well moved a dummy cruise to this cruise anyway. I am 99% sure we will keep it as it appears I can use miles to pay for one of the airline tickets so that will help a great deal.

Got the same stateroom as our Alaska trip!

We are Andrea and Joe from Mount Laurel, NJ. (outside Philly). We will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (although belated, because I messed up those reservations for August 2014, real anniversary date, and did not get the dog sitter before he booked up) and Andrea's birthday on board

Looking forward to catching up on the 19 pages of posts. I did also request being added to the Facebook page!

Looks like there are a lot of seasoned cruisers but happy to answer questions as well. We have been on 8 cruises with Disney, we have been on all 4 ships. Does a 2 week cruise count as 2 cruises??? I wish! We are slowly getting to Platinum status!

Hi all

Just booked this cruise - was surprised to see not only a thread started but so much activity. I can see this is going to be a really fun cruise. My DH and I will be cruising, we have many cruises under our belt but this will only be our 2nd disney cruise

We would be interested in joining the FE group

So excited as I had originally booked an Alaskan cruise for next July but need to change and now this one is less than a year away!

Look forward to chatting with everyone

Mags

Hello! We just booked this cruise today. We were planning on doing the East Panama Canal thinking it would be in early October but since it is so late we decided to do this one. We have sailed Disney before but this will be the first 14 day one and we all are excited. :) It will by myself (Jessica), husband (Kellon), DD (Kaiden age 6) and DS (Kiellon who will turn 5 during the cruise).

We want to join the FE so I will look up the Facebook page. :)

We are in Room 6548 and will be at the Main Dining. My husband is in the military and we live right outside of Washington, DC. This will be our first time on the Wonder and we are so excited to be on her for 14 days!!!! :)

Please sign me up for the roll call. :)

I do have a question. We have only been on one cruise on the Fantasy.
Would you happen to know if the adjoining rooms with a veranda have the ability to remove the separation between them?
Sounds like you have had a lot cruising. I can't wait to see the canal for the first time. It sounds so interesting and a lot of history that comes along with it.
Thank you in advance
Joanne :cheer2:

On our 'canal day' it was warm and humid, just be prepared. The sights are awesome and the fact that it is manmade blew my mind especially after seeing the conditions they all worked in. I did read The Path Between the Seas by David McCullough before we went so I had some history on it. Also be sure to watch from different places on the ship - on the upper decks or on deck 4 (especially when going through a lock as it is mind boggling how narrow they really are).

Anyone have any other questions, let me know and I will be happy to try and answer.

Yes, the room steward can unlock the divider on the verandah regardless if the rooms have an interior door or not. At least that is my understanding.

Unless something has changed, the veranda's on the classic ships do not have a divider between them that can be opened or removed. The door in the inside of the cabin in all connecting rooms can be unlocked. We are generally in an sideways cabin so my first hand knowledge may be incorrect.

This is what I thought but I've never sailed the Wonder. I think the classic ships don't have the opening verandah dividers. I'd love to be wrong, tho!

Excited about this cruise, since I had to work Radio Room during crossing, just had glimpses when I was on Bridge delivering message to Captain. :)

I definitely could be wrong. I've been on all four, but only had verandas on Dream and Fantasy and don't think we've ever had any of them opened. Sorry if I've misguided.

That's awesome! I've been wishing we could find/make something like this. I have some of my dad's old certificates. I think one is the Suez. The other I think is a Shellback. Fun stuff! Thank you to you & your family for your service. :)

The verandah walls on the Wonder do not open. Well at least mine did not on this years WBPC or last years WBPC

Hey all!
I've got connecting 10Cs on hold right now - was planning on the EBPC and put the deposit down, but realized that if we cruised out of Miami, the kids and I could see my family in Orlando pre-cruise :) versus coming into Galveston and flying to FL.

Plus, I have 11Cs adjoining but not connecting on that sailing, and this was only $800 more for connecting - which is a huge plus with young kids!

So on to intros, it will be me (32) and the hubby (will be 33 a few days before the cruise!), and our 3 rapscallions, DD (6.5), DS (4th birthday just a few days before the sailing as well!) and DS (2). I'm super excited and less time to wait now!

Anyone know if I transfer a booking to Costco, do I still get the full cash card I would get if booking through them? I heard DU gives only half OBC for transfers, not sure if that works with Costco as well.

ETA: requested to join the FB group :)

Oh, and I would totally love to be in the AG girl swap!! I can do PJs if you all don't mind if they are nightgowns (faster and less pieces to sew). I will send in the questionnaire.

:cool1: Looking forward to sailing with you again. Was talking with your wife about how we framed our EBTA print the other day.

That's so cool! My husband went through the canal when in the Navy, but he didn't get anything like this. Very neat and thank you for your service.

Would it be worth it to tack on a couple of days at DL after? DH has to be back to work by that Monday, so it would be half Friday, Saturday and probably half Sunday depending on when we could get a flight. He only has enough vacation days to be gone the 2 weeks, but since the cruise gets in on a Friday...

Hi Everyone,

I'm Pam and my DH Mike we are in the process of booking this cruise. (Just sent TA our cabin requests.) We did the Jan 2011 WBPC cruise also and think 14 nights is a great length of time to cruise. I'll be back reading for the next few day!

Guess I should add we are parents of 4 grown children (who will not be coming along on this cruise LOL.) We are having a double celebration on this cruise, DH's retirement and my 60th birthday

Cabin 7604, main dining I'm interested in doing FE so will PM the appropriate people
