Cruising over New Years

We were on the NYE cruise out of Galveston last year on the Wonder. It was great! We spent NYE on Castaway Cay and New Year's Day in Nassau, where we watched part of the Junkanoo Parade. The fireworks were on the NYE, not on pirate night. Christmas decorations were up the entire cruise.

On our cruise that left December 28, the decorations for Christmas were taken down.
OK, I don't really like that, LOL! Which ship was this?

Did you happen to have a trip report or remember posting navigators from it? I am a little curious what "special" activities or events we'll have, although to be honest, I don't know what "normal" is for that itinerary anyway b/c I have only found Merrytime navigators. My NYE-related searches here aren't producing much.

Maybe some ships leave up the decorations, and some don't?

I didn't post a trip report or the Navigators.

Odd. On the Dream cruise that sailed 12/31/15 the Christmas decorations were still up.

I should have elaborated...they took the Christmas decs down during our cruise. And maybe they've changed their process now.. our NYE cruise was 2012-13.

We were on the Magic on a New Years cruise. We had a blast. Our kids were 16 and 12 at the time, they had a blast too. This was before they did fireworks. Huge party in the Atrium, with it broadcast into all the bars, and the staterooms. Also amusing, only night of the 7 day cruise that anyone was up past 10 pm, and even then I swear the Atrium was empty by 12:05 am. Disney is an early to bed, early to rise cruise line.:crutches::dogdance::worship::fish::cat::cat::cat::drinking:

I was on the Wonder out of Miami Dec 30-Jan 5 two years ago. There were lots of decorations up at the start of the cruise but they did start taking them down during the cruise. The big tree was up in the atrium for the whole cruise but the crew members were frantically dismantling it as we left the ship on the last day. It was a bit strange since we went from there to WDW and the parks were still in full Christmas mode for the whole week after that!

One thing that we did notice was the change in soundtrack. On the first two days of the cruise it was Disney Christmas music playing in the halls and common areas. Then all of a sudden on Jan 1 it switched back to the regular background music. It was sort of nice to have both!

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the extras like the NYE parties (including a 9pm countdown for the little ones), nice chocolates, party hats and noisemakers in the rooms on New Years Eve and a special New Year's Menu. However, we chose the cruise because it was the only time we could go. The extras were nice, but if I could have I'd rather save the money and put it towards another cruise!
