When you cruise out of New York, do you miss seeing The Statue of Liberty if you have the first dining?

If you leave on time, you shouldn't. We sailed out of NY in October, and I just checked the time stamp on my pictures. The pictures of the Statue of Liberty were between 5:50 and 5:55. So you may end up going straight to dinner from there, but you won't have to choose between the two. :)

Thank you. Our dinner is at 5:30 so I'm not sure what we'll do

On our cruise, first seating was 5:45. People definitely stayed up and then headed to dinner (the deck emptied out quickly after passing). As long as you’re not super late, you’re fine.

We left a little late in October. We had early seating. Some people, including myself, got up/went out to take some pictures and came back in to finish my dinner.

When we sailed out of New York City, we were a little late. The dining rooms did accommodate early diners who wanted to go out and take a picture of the Statue of Liberty.

This year, I booked Palo for the first night specifically so we could see the Statue of Liberty! On my first cruise out of NYC, we did miss it. We were on the wrong side of the dining room, but through the window we did see the Verrazzano - Narrows Bridge.

I'm NYC born and bred so I admit to being a bit prejudiced...but please do not miss NY harbor! Not any part of it! Stay somewhere on the ship with a good view until you sail under the bridge!! Do this I promise you wont regret it. Manhattan is one of the most gorgeous ports to sail out of. Emphasize do not miss any part of the harbor!!

I hope I got my point across?

I dont think you will miss it if you sail on time but it's worth being late or making other dining arrangements imo.

We have sailed twice out of NYC. We had early dining and stayed on deck a little later and got to the dining room around 6pm. Servers know this happens in NYC.

100% agree - and I see and am on the bridge all the time :) - Living here in/near the city.

I've sailed out of NYC twice. Main seating both times. The first time we were able to see the Statue of Liberty and then go to dinner (missed going under the bridge, though). The second time we left so late we probably would've been able to see her AFTER we'd eaten dinner (but we didn't because it was cold and miserable and rainy and dark).

We just sailed November 3-10. We passed Lady Liberty at 5:45 pm. We had never seen her in the dark before (we're from Ohio). I wanted to stay out for the Verrazano Bridge, but went to dinner instead. You can watch portnywebcam.com and nyharborwebcam.com to track how long it takes from departure to the bridge (right at 1 hour). I loved seeing the city lights at night. Bring a camera that can take good night shots. Our cell phones didn't do well. Don't forget to put down your cameras and just take it in. Your own eyes take the best pictures!

We left promptly on time and saw Lady Liberty long before dinner, about 4:30 or so. Did not get to see the bridge because of dinner. On our Med cruise they told us as long as we were seated by 1 hour past the official start time, they'd still serve us.

We were also on the November 3-10 cruise. It was cold on deck!! Our daughter was watching us leave on the above cams (portnywebcam.com and nyharborwebcam.com) and we were texting back and forth. As we got into the range of the nyharborwebcam, I took a series of flash photos with my phone - four photos in a row, text, repeat, repeat. Our daughter was able to see the flashes on the nyharborwebcam. If you are texting / messaging someone as you leave, give it a shot.
