We are planning a day in Miami before and after our cruise. Where did you stay? What did you like about where you stayed?

We stayed at Hampton Inn Miami Brickell. What we liked is we were able to get a suite to fit 5. We were able to walk to a dinner restaurant. They had free breakfast. They had a port shuttle ($8 per person) but we chose to take an Uber because it was less expensive for a family of 5. We would stay there again.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Miami Airport West / Doral. It was completely fine, but certainly not a vacation destination, more of a "clean place to sleep so you don't have to board the ship on travel day."

Transportation and rental car options to the port are tough in Miami if you have kids that need a car seat. We had no choice but to rent a car to get to the hotel, return the car to the airport the next morning, and take Disney's shuttle to the port.

We are two adults traveling. Our extra hassle will likely be due to my knack for overpacking.

We stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay for 2 night pre. On our sightseeing day we took the Miami People Mover just 2 blocks from the Marriott to
Bayside Market, then took the free people mover back. Nice to see some of the downtown district from sky level and the very busy market with food, music and yachts. So many Yachts.
Marriott we under construction and the noise during the day was loud. I would not stay there again if they are under construction. No services or restaurants were effected, it was just noisy.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Miami for 2 nights before our January 2020 cruise. It was close to the port and we could see the ship from our bayview room.

The weekend we were there was 1 week before the Super Bowl in Miami so there was a bunch of stuff going on in the park across the street from the hotel. We also walked over to the Bayside Marketplace and did some shopping.

We have a B2B on the Dream out of Miami January 2023 and are looking to stay in the South Beach area just to see some other areas of Miami.

Another vote for the Biscayne Marriott. Very close to the pier and a nice view of the ships if your room faces that way.
