We are new to DVC and have banked 200 pts from this year. We plan on taking a cruise in July 2003. We will use 200 banked points from 2002, the 200 from 2003 and borrow 50 from 2004. If we have to cancel our trip next spring, what happens to our points?

I know we have to use the 200 from 2002. I am assuming we will also have to use up the 200 from 2003. Can we rebank the 50 from 2004? Also, if we cancel, can we use our 2002 and 2003 points at our home Disney resort?

Also, instead of cancelling, what if we modify the ressie, instead. Meaning that the original ressie was for for 4 people and change it to 2 (this uses less points). Can we rebank or use remaining points at our home resort?

Hope all of this makes sense.

Thanks

If you make a reservation on Disney Cruise lines and then cancel, those points can not go back into your regular account. They become what is known as "Reservation" points. All of the points will have to be used at Non-DVC location before the end of that use year (you didn't mention your use year month, so I can't be more specific) The year the points are from does not matter once they become "Reservation" points.

A few of your options of Non-DVC locations would be to book another cruise, stay at a non-DVC, WDW resort, go to Disneyland or Disneyland Paris, do something from the Concierge Collection, etc.

Also remember, EACH time you modify, that costs you an extra $75 to MS if you book using points.
