Has anyone ever had anything stolen from their luggage or luggage not making it to their stateroom?

i've had things taken from my luggage in the past and i've read of people missing things from luggage before or after a cruise. we've not experienced that with DCL in particular, but I am sure it happens.

I've seen the media reports where things go missing with airport checks.... I've been lucky so far.
  • Having luggage properly label has kept it from getting lost.
  • Any chance you have a black Samsonite? Seriously consider adding colored tape or things to make your luggage unique. Hate to see another cruiser grab your bag by mistake when they are in a rush.
  • keep valuables in your carry-on and with you at all times. Electronics are with me.... I can always replace the charger that potentially goes missing in my checked luggage.

A sis-in-law didn't get one of her bags so she reported it to guest services. They were sure they didn't have it, but about 3 days later, it showed up. Have no idea where it had been, but she was glad to see it again.

Yes, had something stolen from our luggage once on DCL the last night. We learned to not pack anything in the luggage that is or looks valuable. They opened the suitcase, looked through, found what they wanted, and recluse it. We didn't find out until we got home (driving, so no one had access to it except the crew).

Did the crew pick up your luggage as soon as it was set out in the hall? Just wondering if another passenger could have helped themselves to your valuables before the crew picked up your luggage. If I were driving and didn't have to worry about TSA I would probably lock my luggage.

BTW, I've heard of kids going down the hall and shoving ice cream into luggage while it's out in the hall. Another reason to lock it up.

Why don't you use TSA locks?

We lost a bag between putting it outside the stateroom and picking it up at the pier. There were six of us on a sevennight cruise so lots of bags and chaos. I didn't realize it was missing until later in the day. DCL was wonderful when I called about it. The bag was never found but we were compensated quickly. Since the bag only contained our last few days of dirty clothes and I got to go shopping instead of doing laundry, I counted it as a bonus.

Nothing ever removed from my suitcase on DCL, but once found a notice (yellow stick-on paper with a dog's face on it) that it had been sniffed by their security dog. This was
stuck on the outside of the suitcase when we received it after embarkation.

Always wondered why they felt the need to do that as you would never have known the difference but I did save it as a souvenir! lol

Maybe in case you might be dog allergic. You could have the bag wiped down before touching it.

Good thought Schmoo - didn't think of that. Then again, can't believe security would be that concerned over the remote possibility.

OR, they want to be sure that people are aware of the possibility, so they advertise.

I would think security (as well as most Disney CMs) are allergy aware.

I zip tie my luggage before I put it out, if they are been broken I know that someone has been in it

We have had one piece of luggage go missing after a cruise when we went to find it at customs. I believe someone took it thinking it was theirs. We were told to check at lost luggage at the airport, if they found it they would send it there. It was eventually sent there, before our flight home pixiedust:

When we got into port at LA after our 2011 Panama Canal cruise we could not find one piece of our luggage in our designated Minnie Mouse section. We found it in the Mickey Mouse section. At least we found it, I guess I can see how someone in a hurry to sort luggage could mistake Mickey for Minnie.

These are both post cruise, but not any less stressful when a piece of luggage goes missing.
