Has anyone taken a Disney cruise with no children? I was wondering how it is for adults only.

I have! DH & I took a 4 night cruise for our 1st Anniversary last year. We had a GREAT time! We had booked the Romantic Escape at Sea package which included a gift basket on arrival, couples massage, champagne room service breakfast, dinner at Palo's- adults only fancy restaurant that requires reservations, and one night of turn down with rose petals. Unfortunately the package no longer includes the massage, but some thing at the spa (not sure what it is though). There is the adults only pool, and adults only section of Castaway Cay, which is like heaven on earth!! We are going back on the cruise in January (were giong to do a 7 night but opted for land/sea instead.) Please let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you.

3 times here...plus once with our nephews. The kid cruise was awsome, but we'll cruise DCL anytime! It's not just for families.

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to take just a 3 day sometime combined with a land package.

When we went last year we went on the 7 day Western. It was wonderful. We went in September in between Hurricanes Ophelia and Rita. We really lucked out on that one. Now we were told that the 3 and 4 day cruises have a lot more children on them. Going as we did in September and the fact that it was the 7 day I would probably agree. The only reason I mention this is because you have been on the childfree threads. So I would say don't rule out the 7 day. :thumbsup2

DCL actually does a better job of keeping the adults-only spots actually adult-only than many if not most other cruise lines. My son would be happily in the Oceaneer Lab and I would go sit in the hot tub by the adult pool, stars above me and soft jazz in the background, and I would never have guessed there was a single child onboard.

DS and I have sailed on the Magic three times, and I always see so many couples -- young couples, senior citizen couples, honeymooners, you name it. Both the Magic and the Wonder are such beautiful, elegant, 5-star ships... you will have a great time!!

What about the entertainment in the evening? Are some of the shows sufficiently adult, or is most of it too precious? Would somebody who isn't a Disney fan enjoy it?
BTW: thanks, FlyerFan, for the opportunity to ask questions :thumbsup2 .

I know Barb and her husband (no kids) have probably been on 40 of these cruises and she lists all of the fun adults-only activities on her castaway club web site. You can find the link from our blog. :)

We haven't quite convinced ourselves, though, because we love to cruise and just not sure the DCL is for us. But we should really give it a try first.

We did a land a sea package last September for our honeymoon with 4 days at sea and it was amazing. We loved it so much that we booked a 7 day western onboard for Jan. 2007. We loved the activities for adults on board and the beach at Castaway Cay. Palo was great and e did a wine tasting, hit the clugs at night and just relaxed. We did book the romance package and it was good but we are not doing it this time around. Starting with the shorter cruise was nice for us as we both has never cruise before so it was a learning experience for us both.

We cruise DCL with no children. Ok, once we had our daughter, 21 at the time. It is great. There are adult only areas. Plenty of adult activities if you want them, or just relax.

DW and I did the 3-day cruise and land package three years ago for our 25th anniversary. Loved every minute of it.
The ship could use a little more adult entertainment choices...and maybe they do on a seven-day cruise. But we did enjoy the adults-only pool area and the adults-only night spot on the ship.
Loved the adults-only beach at Castaway Cay too....hard to beat laying in a lounge chair on a beautiful sand beach looking out over the turquoise water....AND having waiter service to your lounge chair. Didn't have to lift a finger all day. Biggest decision of the day was when to get up to go eat.... ;)

Flyerfan - subscribing to this thread for two reasons. One - DH and I are going w/o children on our first DCL 3 night January '07 and are wondering if we made a good choice or if we'll feel out of place. And two - because I took notice to where you are from and I can't believe there is another "coal cracker" on these boards!

Oh Yeah! :thumbsup2 Born and bred. What part of the woods do you live?

I don't suppose a casino on-board ship is available for true "adult" entertainment? Every other cruise ship I have ever been on included a casino but I see none mentioned on this thread. I suspect gambling would be counter to Walt's philosophy. If so, I guess we would just have to dine, dance and drink. :cool1:

FlyerFan - little town outside of Hazleton. Small world isn't it. I just think it's so funny that mileage wise we are so close, but it takes something like the world wide web and Disney to get neighbors together! Another oddity - we just love Disney in January and Dixie Landings is the favorite of DH. Anyway, we do have our cruise booked and are anxious to enjoy it as adults without the responsibility of our own kids, while still sharing in the childhood joy of others around us. Here's hoping you decide to give it a try also.

Thanks, all. I think we will consider a combo trip next time.

My wonderful DH and I took a very MAGICal cruise early this year and had an awesome time!!! The trip was flawless and we will do it again. We spent alot of time at the Cove Cafe and the adult pool area. You do not need children to enjoy it. OMG...its so relaxing! DO IT! DO IT!

For a short trip, would you recommend a 3 or 4 night cruise? It seems the only difference between the two is that with the 4 night you are at sea for a whole day.

Any thoughts? :sunny:
