Just a day late Elyse, its ok, thanks.

So,
on Friday I have to go to a leadership conference and apparently its a huge deal. I was 1 of 8 people chosen from the eighth grade at my school to attend because my teachers saw me as a leader figure, and chose me to represent our school with 9 others (2 Student Council members and 8 chosen eighth graders). Its semi-casual, and I get to have lunch with local polititions. I believe this includes the mayor, some other people from his office, and Governor Blagojevich was invited, as he is every year, but may not be able to attend. Anyway, there are two or three different sessions about an hour or so long, and each one teaches how to be a good leader and one will suggest different job opportunities for the future that will test our leadership skills. I'll post afterward on Friday and say how it went. This is a huge deal for me, I am so excited!

Hey! I just got back from the Leadership Conference. It was fun, but we sat and listened for a long time.

First, we had a keystone speaker talk about drugs and keeping your body healthy, and the effects of caffine. He talked for a good hour and 15 min. After that we broke into groups, and went to two different classes for about a half hour each. My first two were suicide prevention, and adolecent issues. We talked about what we can do to prevent these things and what to do when faced with them. Then we had lunch, which was pizza and soda, with state representitives and a senator, the Sangamon County Treasurer, and a few other important people that I can't remember at the moment. Then the last session I had was leaderdhip skills, which talked about why we were chosen to attend, and what skills are needed to be a good leader. Finally, we went back into the auditorium and listened to the speaker for another 15 min while he summed up his points.

I really enjoyed it, I learned some things that I never knew before. The one thing that stands out in my mind is that when you are trying to get the attention of a crowd or even just a small group, all you have to do is smile, and raise your arm, but never yell.

So...
OH! I have a question. Think very hard about this one!

Think of a box. A regular cardboard box with a lid. How many sides does a box have?
