Cruises keep getting cancelled

Well DCL cancelled our April 30 cruise last week so we rescheduled for next March - if nothing else we should be vaccinated.

I've read that DCL waits a week or so AFTER PIF and then cancels. Considering how they've pushed it to 60 days out, you may have to pay and then move it. Makes sense from their standpoint - get as much cashflow in before giving a future credit.
Fortunately (unfortunately?) our summer 2021 cruise was booked and paid for with a FCC that we got from a cancelled 2020 cruise, so we already have the FCC. If they extend the FCC use-by date AND announce the summer 2022 cruises before we hit the PIF date for 2021, then we'll be able to slide it all to 2022. Otherwise we'll just have to cancel and take the refund.

Do they actually need to announce summer 2022 cruises before PIF date? My wife and I have had multiple cruises books, so we have been able to use the FCC for cancelled cruises applied to those, but I thought if you took the FCC credit, it just sat as a credit in your DCL account, and could be used whenever you booked a future cruise. If DCL cancels your summer 2021 cruise and have not announced an extension to the FCC date or haven't release the summer 2022 cruises, couldn't you keep the FCC as a credit, and wait until extension is announced and summer cruises are available? If no extension is granted, then at that point request a refund?

I believe the FCC is set to expire in May 2022. But with at least 14 months of cancellations on the books, and only 13 months available to use them, Disney is soon going to run out of options for people to use them.

We've cancelled two and gotten the refunds, so no credit. We want to book a 2022 AK cruise when those come out and we have a cruise for september with a placeholder we'll need to move yet again.

Oh my gosh, I'd never even considered the possibility that I can just leave it in my account until they open up the summer cruises (assuming they extend). I'd even asked my travel agent and she didn't mention that option. You're a genius...thanks! :thumbsup2
