Hi Chris! See, you can have a splurge meal and still not gain weight! You were still within your goals for the day, way to go passing up the evening snack! Keep it up, that scale will be on the downslide again soon!

HI Chris,

I hope you get everything done so that you are able to take tomorrow off.

I am sorry that the mexican didn't agree with you.....but you handled it well. Mexican is my most favorite food......If someone would let me I would eat it every day!!!!

Hope you are having a great day. Keep up the good work!

Okay - well, today was interesting. I was not very hungry at all and was basically forcing myself to eat. About 5pm I figured out why - TOM started early, wasn't due until late tomorrow. UGH - I wondered why I was having such horrible cramps and I was hoping they'd be low this month due to the excessive exercise I've been doing (compared to none basically). Now I'm wondering what that scale is gonna show me tomorrow because usually I gain BEFORE TOM arrives and it didn't - weird.

Roast was okay - I made it so it was something quick to eat after getting home late and then because of the surprise I encountered I couldn't go workout (I had to come home to change my clothes) and there wasn't enough time to come home and make it to Jazzercise. So I ate, read the paper, watched the news, did the dishes and decided to heck with it - I really don't want to mess up my July Exercise Challenge that bad so I have to do some type of workout. I was all set to do a tape that I use to have - note USE to have. So I got on the treadmill and did 45 minutes with 5 minutes up to 3 and a slight jog. Last night I stayed at about 2.5. My legs are short and it's hard for me to go very fast because I have terrible shin splints from those nice things in school called sports - did bad things to my body as I got older!!!!! :)

So here's what I did today:
breakfast very berry fruit and oatmeal bar

lunch ham sandwich on Wonder light wheat
1 TBSP fat free mayo
cheese stick
fat free yogurt
1/2 cup canteloupe
1/2 cup green grapes

snack 1 bag popcorn (98% fat free mini bag)
peanut butter and choc chip granola bar

dinner 1 1/2 c rice
6 ounces roast
2 fig newtons

And my totals are: 1504 cals, 25 fat grams, 224.3 carbs

I could have done without the fig newtons but they were staring me in the face when I opened the pantry. They are the fat free ones, I like them better than the regular ones. They really are good. If I want to do 1500 cals I'm a bit high but if I want 1800 I'm way low. I did very well on the fat grams today - I was very proud of myself when I saw that number. A bit high on the carbs but that's okay. I'm not concentrating so much on those anymore but I'm trying to keep them fairly steady and around 210 as much as possible.

So all in all I guess I did okay. Got 70 ounces of water in, could have done more but I didn't. I'm feeling a bit bloaty in the tummy, we'll see what tomorrow brings. I did get my work done so I'm going to be off tomorrow - yay. I'm going to defat my basement pantry and do some yard work tomorrow and spend as much time outside as I can. I WILL go workout tomorrow night. I am having a craving though and I hope we can go after we pick dd up on Saturday. There is this salad buffet place about 30 minutes from here called Sweet Tomatoes and it is so awesome. Once in a while I get so hungry for salad and that's where I want to go.....YUMMMMMMMM. We'll see - I also need to make a trip to Sam's and get some Nabisco 100 cal snacks if they have them. Can't wait to go get groceries - I'm out of most of my foods and I have to wait until Friday. DH didn't make it home, yet. He called me at just before 4 and said he hadn't been called to give his testimony yet and he doesn't know if he will yet today. He was gonna call me and let me know for sure and I haven't heard from him - I'm hoping he isn't still on the stand!!!! YIKES - but good Disney money (his consulting he charges about $135 an hour!!!!!!!! and he's been there since 8am!)

Everyone have a good night. I'll check in sometime tomorrow.
Keep on
Chris

Hi Chris!

COngrats on a good day!!!
That definitely does sound like some nice Disney money you DH racked up while his testimony was delayed! I say see if he can stretch that out a few days over night! hehehehe! :flower: Good for you for getting in your exercise, that is awesome!

I hope you have a great night!
Mike :flower:

Hi Chris - looks like a good day! Hope you manage to get that work out in! I need to do some tonight as well...too bad all of us aren't close we could meet up to go walking!

Good morning everyone!!!! Well, I stepped on the scale this morning and, although I am counting it, I'm not sure what to expect in a couple of days. The scale says I lost 2 pounds. I just don't know about that. But I'm going to take it and not be totally disappointed when it goes up tomorrow. I was trying to make Friday's my weigh in days but I've had a HORRIBLE habit of stepping on that scale daily. This weekend I AM going to make my dh put the scale where I can't get to it because I'm beating myself up over this stupid thing.

My goal was to hit 10 pounds by the end of the month. And right now I have. I will weigh myself tomorrow and then again on Monday so I know where I'm starting August out at.

I have been on the journal for 2 weeks now. This morning, I know it's hormone related, I've been sappy (note the sap part in my title). I've really sat and reflected about what I have done in the last two weeks for the positive and I just need to share this:

1) I found out that I CAN and WILL do this this time!!!!!
2) I found out that at my weakest moment I CAN be strong.
3) I found out that writing out what I'm eating has been so very helpful to me and that the doctors and weight loss people really are right about doing that. It CAN help you through your weight loss journey.
4) I found out that I CAN dream big and work on accomplishing those dreams - the last two weeks I've had so many awesome ideas of what I'll be able to do at this weight, and what I'll be able to do at that weight, and where I'll be in December and where I'll be in April for two big trips we have coming up and it really has me excited!!!!
5) I CAN make my daughter proud of me and WILL and AM doing it! I so can't wait to see her on Saturday - I hit my first mini-goal!
6) That support DOES make a difference and I'm glad to be able to be of support to others. I feel I have met some great people here that have made a world of difference with my weight loss this time - and I have KimRaye to keep me going and she has accomplished her goals!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
7) I found out that I CAN exercise and enjoy it and feel great after I'm done and that I do miss when I haven't done it.

I so can't wait to come back and do this when I hit 25 pounds and look at where I've come from since July 1, even though I really hit my total dedication on July 13 when I started my journal. I would have never thought that in 14 days I would have lost 10 pounds - NEVER!!!!!

I'll be back later this evening and read journals then. I'm just to sappy to do this right now. And I need to go work on cleaning that basement pantry out after I eat some breakfast.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!! Your support has done more good for me than I ever dreamed it would!

So glad to hear you've had a positive experience so far with WISH!!! You've accomplished a lot and become a valued member of this community!

Don't worry so much about the scale--obviously only you know how much distress daily weighing causes you, but if you're considering stopping weighing yourself daily because you "should" you may want to reconsider. I read an article in Fitness or Prevention that said that the most sucessful folks who've lost weight and kept it off weighed themselves daily or very frequently. It can be a good way to keep tabs on things and to address issues when they're very small instead of waiting until they get bigger.

Just something to think about!

I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Chris - Thanks for posting all of your positive affirmations! Whenever you get down in the dumps, come back and read those for a quick pick-me-up. You are doing a great job!

I can sympathize with you on the scale issue. I am trying to get down to weighing myself once a week because it is causing me too much stress to see the daily fluctuations (thanks TOM!). Maybe try weighing yourself every other day, once in the morning for a week or two. Then every 3 days, then every 4 days, etc until you get to your weekly goal. That's what I am trying...

Keep it up!

Hi Chris!!

What a great list! I think that you should print it out and post it on your fridge, as a way to fight any temptation done the road! :flower:
Very glad that you are celebrating your two week Anny on here, and I am happy you're still here! :goodvibes

Here's to many more for us all!

What a weird night - sorry I haven't been able to finish posting on journals. I got a call while I was at Jazzercise from DH and he had to stay again tonight, finally got on the stand to testify at 2:30 and they didn't get done by 6pm. He has sleep apnea and wears a CPAP machine to help with his breathing at night. Well last night at 9:30 he calls me and tells me something is wrong with his machine and needs the number to the place here in town. So he calls me at 2 today and tells me they will give him a loaner that is machine is blown and nothing he can do to make it work. Needless to say, he didn't sleep well last night. So I go and get the machine because at that time he didn't know yet if he was coming home - the likelihood was very low. So when he called during Jazzercise he left me a message and told me he needed me to meet him so he could get the machine because he really needed to sleep tonight for his day on the stand tomorrow. He's 2 hours away. So I say, okay I'll meet him half way. Now mind you - I had a little "snack" before I went to Jazzercise and hadn't eaten dinner yet and it's 7:30. So as I fly home, go to the bathroom (here's the test to see how long I can go in the car without having to go after drinking 30 ounces in less than an hour), grab a snack in case I need it, the machine, my credit card, get gas and the I realize I need to eat - I can't wait until 9:30. So I run through the healthiest fast place I can get to - KFC. So I'm thinking, there goes my day. Well, sort of. Here's my totals for the day and what I ate:

breakfast 2 pcs toast (Wonder Light Wheat)
1 TBSP peanut butter
fat free yogurt

lunch 2 c romaine lettuce
1 boiled egg
6 ounces chicken
2 TBSP dressing
small plum
reduced fat cheese stick

snack 100 cal oreo snack

dinner 1/4 c rice
2 ounces roast
3 KFC chicken strips
small order cole slaw

Totals - 1581 cal, 64.4 fat, 132.8 carbs (bad on fat, not bad on cals and carbs)

It never seems to fail - when I do good on the carbs I've generally screwed up on the fats and when I do good on the fats I've generally gone pretty over in the carbs. So despite not having much choice for dinner (it was KFC here or McD's or Burger King where I met dh) I think I did pretty good. I had a good workout at Jazzercise and did some yard work this afternoon pulling weeds and deadheading a bunch of plants. So I'm not too worried about weighing in tomorrow morning. I'll take what I get and just go forth.

Hope everyone had a good day - I'll catch up tomorrow. First it's Jazzercise in the morning and then a haircut and maybe allergy shots. Then I have the rest of the day to do whatever. Oh - and it really felt good to clean out the pantry today. Not only did I do the basement pantry but I did the kitchen pantry and cleaned out both freezers. Gosh that felt so gooooooo to haul 3 bags of junk and unhealthy food out to the curb tonight!!!!!! THANKS LESLI!!!! DH asked if I had a good day and I told him what I did and he was in shock. When I do that he automatically thinks I pitched his food - I told him I didn't touch any of his food!!!!! ROFL

Did you see the new smilie..... :maleficen - I DO love it!!!!!
Keep on

I sure didn't see that coming. Thanks 'roomie', I'm here for you always. You're doing great, and I KNOW you'll do this! :cheer2:

And, not that I'm encouraging what you feel is a bad habit, but I did and still do weigh myself nearly every day. :guilty: Yep, I'm guilty.

Good for you cleaning out all that junk (except Mike's of course ;) ), I'm sure Britt will appreciate it as well. ::yes::

Onward and Downward!!! :cool1:

Wow Chris, what a wild night!! hehe!!
I think you did great considering the chaos after Jazzercising!

I too love the new Maleficient smiley! She rocks!
:maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen :maleficen

Hope the rest of your night is smooth sailing and you have a great tomorrow!

Christ - you did a great job yesterday. I hope your DH finished up today and doesn't have to go back on Monday. Is he getting paid for all that standby time? I certainly hope so. You definitely handled the situation well yesterday and you didn't end up doing that poorly with fats. I think you definitely have a handle on your healthy lifestyle =)

Hi Chris! First let me say that I love Jazzercise! I use to go to one before I moved, the ones where I live now don't have as flexible of hours. I use to especially love the toning classes that worked with rubber bands. Those were LONG nights ;) 45 minutes of regular jazzercise and then 45 minutes of work with bands. YOWSA!

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret - it is EXTREMELY difficult to watch fat and carbs at the same time. Reason being is that usually low carb foods are high in fat and vice versa. You really need to choose between the two on which enemy keeps fat on your body. For instance I can eat low cal and low fat till the cows come home and I won't drop a pound. If I eat low carb and high fat I drop weight easily (or what use to be easy ;) ).

Have a great day today, and just think about what I said.

~Amanda

You are doing great Chris! Keep it up. You made a good choice with what you had to choose from and were still within your calorie goals. Have a great weekend!

Thanks everyone!!!!! You know Amanda, it's funny you say that because I have noticed the days that my fats are up and my carbs are down along with the calories, I have a higher loss. Not that I'm saying that's good because your body does need some carbs to break down those sugars but it's funny how it works. I'm gonna have to watch this a little more closely in August and see for sure. Thanks for that info.

I'm sorry that I have to break my posts up into two posts a day but that's what works for me. I just wanted to check in quickly. I'm not going to catch up on journals until tonight or tomorrow. I went and worked out and then came home because TOM made me need to come home and refresh.

I did get on the scale this morning and it read 10 pounds off again. So I'm claiming the 10 pounds off!!!!! Now I'm excited. I told dh last night and he was so proud of me. He has never complained about how large I've gotten but I know it has to bother him some - he's a big guy too and so we are all doing this together. His exception is he really HAS to keep up on this - he is diabetic and has his sleep apnea. He had lost almost 60 pounds 2 years ago and has gained it all but diabetics tend to do that after they get their sugars under control. But he really needs to get it off. So he is being very supportive. Today I could really see it in my face, which made me feel good - I can't wait to get rid of this double chin!!!! I went and got my hair cut after my workout and I noticed it there too - you know when they put that thing around you and tighten around your neck, my chin wasn't as pudgy!!!! I'm also noticing during workout that I am stretching farther than I did a month ago and I'm more bouncy than I was a month ago meaning I can keep up better and I have more energy. I think I would notice the energy part more if I didn't have this sinus infection - just too stubborn to go to the doc. Oh well :)

Okay - gotta finish some dishes and eat some lunch and go to our Habitat office to do some work. As far as I know, dh will be home tonight - haven't heard from him yet today. And yes, the guy he is working for said to bill the full amount for all the hours he's had to sit and do nothing - $135 an hour at about 10 hour days the last two days. This doesn't include the prep work he had to do from last Friday through Tuesday before trial - about 7.5 hours a day. He made the comment that he should be able to pay our camper off with this money and I said wait - I'M GONNA NEED SOME NEW CLOTHES!!!!! :) At least he laughed!!!!

Have a good day everyone! Gonna make chicken fajitas tonight for dinner - I'm so psyched to go get some good veggies and some low carb tortillas or pitas!!!!! YUM

Keep on
Chris

Congratulations, Chris, on being able to claim that 10 lb loss!!! And, yum! Chicken fajitas sound good!
