Welcome back! You did a great job on vacation. It sounds like you had a great time.

Happy New Year,

Hi Chris, sounds like you had a great trip. Excited for you being 46 lbs. lighter and how that improved your trip! I think commandos like us need to go to WDW all the time, we get our best exercise there!!! That's it, I'm movin' to Fla.!!
      pirate:

What a great job keeping track of everything you ate! I am so happy that you noticed such differences because of all the weight you have lost. Keep it up!! :cheer2:

Chris: It sounds like you had an amazing trip and you still ate what you wanted and managed to lose a pound! This gives me hope for a trip sometime...someday...

Have you done WDW at Christmas before? If you were to offer advice for planning a trip at this time of year, what would you recommend? (Now that I'm almost a teacher...now more travel off-season for us).

1/5/06

Well I got on the scale this morning and it wasn't good to me so I'm not counting it ROFL. Actually I started my water back up yesterday - I drank 105 ounces - and only went to the bathroom 3 times which is not good and I felt it and the scale showed it this morning. I'm hoping today it will start getting better. I retained just way too much yesterday.

Eating also wasn't great yesterday but wasn't bad. TOM is around the corner and the PMS chocolate cravings have hit!!!!! NOT GOOD. And thankfully there is hardly any chocolate in my house but then I'm going for anything else I can get my hands on - not good.

I went back to Jazzercise last night since coming home and man am I sore today. I really hit it hard and probably should have eased back into it a bit - it's been 2 weeks since I've been. I'm not going tonight because of plans I have but will get in my 30 minute tape tonight.

I had to ask dh where we ate on the 28th that I forgot about and it was Liberty Tree Tavern - I had about 1/8 cup of mashed potatoes, one bite of mac and cheese, about 4 ounces of the steak (that was yummy), about 1/2 cup of dressing, 1 slice of turkey, 1 slice of ham (I didn't care of that), about 1/2 cup of salad (didn't care for the dressing), 2 rolls with butter (those were yummy too), and a big scoop of the apple crisp with some ice cream (way yummy). All in all that meal was pretty good - we hadn't eaten there before. The characters were awesome.

DH kept track of how much we walked on his pedometer and he showed he walked 99 miles. I didn't walk as much as him so I'm saying about 89 miles total!!!!!!!!! Now that included on and off the buses, DTD, and Kennedy Space Center. I sure didn't feel like I had walked 89 miles. I felt so good while I was there - I'm just so amazed still.

Okay, back and cracking at it today. So far I've had my granola bar and yogurt and about 21 ounces of water. Oh, and about 5 mickey pretzels (the little ones in the chip and dale bag) that I brought back for the staff that is sitting in the lunchroom.

Laurie - we have gone 2 other times for the holidays. The first year we did the 19th-26th so we were there for Christmas. The second time we did the 27th-2nd so we could do NYE and this year we did the 23rd-1st so we were there for both. We didn't go in the park for Christmas because we had done that already but wanted to be there for Christmas. I don't know if I'd go in a park for Christmas again - maybe but not sure. We did MK and that was a madhouse, although not as bad as compared to the crowds during this years NYE. But that's the park that everyone wants to be in on Christmas too so we might try it again and do MGM or Animal Kingdom or Epcot. This year we resort hopped and saw the different resorts decorated since my dad had never been there and we hadn't done a lot of that yet.

The best advice for planning at this time of year is to plan early. Figure out where you want to be on what days and where you want to eat - very important to make sure you get dining reservations (or whatever they are called now). A lot of the sit-downs were not taking any walk-ins while we were there and we saw that and people were mad. Also to plan your eating and take lots of snacks. We would eat two main meals a day - either a big, late breakfast and then an early dinner or an early lunch and late dinner and then either do a counter service or snacks in between. That also helps to cut down on expense. For 10 days, with souveniers, I think we spent $3000 - oh and that included Kennedy Space Center and our passes to get in there as well. Also you need to be aware of the amount you will spend on food so you don't get a shock. Most of the sit-downs now range between $19 and $32 for buffets and regular meals - we aren't talking the more expensive restaurants. We were shocked!

We plan as soon as we get back for our next trip and we go every other year at the holidays - or we go somewhere for the holidays. So we will start slowly start putting money away for our next trip after our bills from this trip are paid. To me that's the best way to do it. We don't do anything last minute.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. I'm happy to help as much as I can.

Chris

1/9/06

Well what an interesting weekend. On Thursday I got on the scale and was incredibly water bloated and had gained 2 pounds. Friday I had lost .5 of that and by Saturday had lost another 2 of that. Yesterday I got on the scale and I was down yet another 1.5 pounds which was going to put me at 2 pounds down from where I was last Monday or Tuesday and had been up to Thursday. This morning I got on the scale and had gained the 2 pounds back with water weight and bloatedness again. Yesterday when I stepped on the scale I was at my 50 pound loss spot finally but didn't get to the computer so didn't get it recorded. Must have been a sign!!!!!! So today I'm back where I was last week when I came home. I'm really ticked but I'll get over it.

Didn't get much exercise this weekend because I was at a scrapbooking crop on Friday night and all day Saturday and then yesterday was running errands, taking Christmas stuff down, and doing laundry. I drank all my water on Friday and Saturday (and felt it - I was in the bathroom at one point every 20 minutes for 3 hours straight!!!!!!).

Tonight I'm starting my workout increase again. Back to where I was in August and I'm very excited. My plan is to go every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and try to go as many Sunday's as I can. Then at home do the 30 minute walk tape on Tuesday and what Thursday's I can (Thursday's are generally my meeting nights). I'm not going to fret if I can't get the walk tapes in but that is my plan. This week though I'm going to workout tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday because I may not be able to go on Saturday. I've been really watching my food intake a lot the last several days. Gotta watch the salt intake a bit more though because I'm sure that's not helping with the water hold.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm not going to get to journals until the weekend so I hope everyone has a great week!

Keep on
Chris

Don't worry about what that scale says. It is evil like mine - up, down, up down, up down... What can you do? :confused3

Have you started writing down all your food again or are you just going to wing it? Great job coming up with a regular exercise schedule. I hope you are able to stick with it (I know how hard it can be when life gets in the way!)

I know, I know Amy - evil scale (I like that!!!!). No, I haven't been writing everything down again. I was actually thinking about that this morning. Yesterday was easy - no breakfast, lunch was Naked Fajita Ranchero Burrito with no ranchero sauce and 1/4 of the cheese, no tortilla; 1/4 cup peanuts; dinner was teriyaki ranch steak from Market Day (3 ounces), baked potato with low fat margarine, 1/4 cup sauteed mushrooms, salad with 1 TBSP Light Done Right Ranch dressing, 4 croutons; 1 cup of fat free frozen yogurt; 1/4 cup peanuts

Today was not so good - 1 granola bar, 1 cheese stick, green pepper beef from chinese restaurant (about 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of beef stuff), 9 carrots with 2 TBSP light dip, 2 stalks of celery with 2 TBSP peanut butter, Lean Cuisine Beef Pot Roast (not yummy), 2 fat free fig newtons, 1/8 of a square slice of cake with frosting at work between eating the carrots and the celery (it was so good but I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow).

I did drink 84 ounces of water today and I went to Jazzercise tonight. I'm down on the computer trying to stay away from the food because I have horrible cravings right now (TOM is coming in 3 days and that's why).

Tomorrow I'll try to be better about writing down what I ate and calculating it. I have to get back to that to see results - I know that.

Chris

Give yourself some time to get back into the routine. You had a big (and SO worth it) disruption with the holidays and your trip. I bet it felt great to get back to your Jazzercise!

Those TOM cravings are killers! You did the right thing by keeping yourself busy adn away from the kitchen!

Well, I did pretty good writing everything down until dinner. I came home, saw dh had bought some french bread to go with dinner, had two small pieces with brummel and brown on them (about 1 TBSP total) and headed to workout. Got home way later than usual because I had errands to run and ate dinner at 8:30 - bad bad bad. I had two more pieces of bread with dinner.

So here's what I had today to eat and I haven't totaled everything up yet - don't know if I will because I know already I probably hit 2000, not good!!!!

breakfast
fruit and nut granola bar
fat free yogurt
2 small oranges
cheese stick

snack
sliver of cake
bite sized almond joy

lunch
lean cuisine spaghetti w/meat sauce
fat free tapioca pudding
6 crackers w/2 tsp peanut butter

snack
18 carrots w/2 tsp low fat dip
chips ahoy 100 cal pack

snack before workout
2 small pieces of french bread with 1 TBSP brummel and brown

dinner
1 5 ounce chicken breast baked with no fat breading, no cheese
1/2 cup spaghetti noodles
1/4 cup Ragu Light spaghetti sauce
1 cup green beans
2 small pieces of french bread with 2 TBSP brummel and brown and garlic salt broiled
1 ounce pistachios

Here was my totals before I got home:
1247.5 cals, 28.4 fat grams, 218.75 carbs, 12.03 fiber grams (too high!!!)

I could have done without the sliver of cake, the pistachios, 2 of the pieces of french bread, crackers and peanut butter. The one thing I need to get under control is my cravings and get my body to realize it's full again. I did notice on my way home tonight from working out that I wasn't really hungry for dinner. I just should have had something small like a Lean Cuisine and not eaten the other stuff. But I felt bad because dh cooked and he never cooks and made a lot of effort making a nice meal so I could go workout.

Pluses for today:
I drank 116 ounces of water
I had 5 servings of fruits and veggies (2 oranges is 1 each; 18 carrots is 2 servings; and 1 cup of green beans which is actually probably 2 servings)
I went to Jazzercise
I signed up for the 100 day challenge with keenercam

We'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning, day before TOM. It shouldn't be too bad but I'm going to bed soon and I ate pretty late. So that food is likely just going to sit there, not good! Did you know how many carbs are in a small orange????!!!!! I was shocked. But it's good for you right!!! I'm eating well, mainly, it's just that the things I'm eating have high carb numbers and do have calories. I never knew oranges had calories - or at least not 65 per orange!

So anyway, I'm off to bed - hope everyone had a good day. Tomorrow is another new one, I'm off on the right idea foot right now - just have to get myself back on track and get my rear in gear again!

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

Don't be too hard on yourself, you will get back on track soon enough. Don't worry about what the scale says.......you are doing a great job no matter what is says!!!!

Keep up the great work and have a wonderful Wednesday!

1/11/06

Thanks

Well I got on the scale this morning and I was down a pound from yesterday but still up a pound from last Wednesday so I reflected that in my numbers. I'm going in the right direction, just need to make some adjustments and I know TOM will help some - I usually lose at least a pound about 2 days and then lose about another pound when I'm almost done but then gain a pound a week after I have started, very weird I know but that's my body. So hopefully I can keep up the exercising and drinking my water and get back on a good track. I really tried very hard yesterday.

Hope everyone has a good day - the week is half over!!!! WHOOHOOO

Keep on
Chris

I am a victim of the TOM weight :yo-yo: too! I feel awesome and thin the first 3 days after TOM then the water weight starts slowly creeping back on until the next month. Blast those pesky hormones!

I think by writing down all your food, you will get back on track much quicker. After just one day of doing that, you already pointed out what you could have done without.

Keep it up, you are doing great! :cool1:

Well Amy - so far today that has paid off - here's what I've had so far (don't know if I'll have time to get back on tonight) and how my numbers look:

breakfast
fruit and nut granola bar
fat free yogurt
1 small orange

lunch
chicken fajita with veggies
1 small orange
6 fries

snack
18 carrots w/2 tsp low fat dip

844 cals, 18.3 fat grams, 136.1 carbs (mainly from the oranges believe it or not), 10.6 fiber grams

Today is dh's birthday and so I picked up lunch for him and I today and he is making some low carb beef stroganoff for dinner from one of his diabetes magazines or cookbook. So I'm holding some cals for dinner tonight and dessert (just fat free frozen yogurt with light cool whip). Figuring out the fajitas was hard because it was from a local restaurant. So I upped them a bit to hopefully help me out. If I have a gain tomorrow, then I know I didn't go high enough.

I've done well today for my 100 day challenge - I'm on my second round of water to make 84 ounces and will have another 42 when I workout tonight and I've had 5 servings of fruits and veggies already today (not including any veggie for dinner which will be salad). And I have to report I'm not really hungry. I haven't eaten my carrots yet but will so I have some food in my body for working out since I won't eat dinner until after I get home. But my hands are really swelling this afternoon and I'm not dispensing the water like I should be.

Pluses for today (this is something new I'm doing for myself to point out the positive of trying each day):
I will drink 126 ounces of water today
I had 5 servings of fruits and veggies today
I went for a brief (about 10 minutes) walk at break this afternoon instead of sitting in my office
I will be going to Jazzercise tonight

I'll try to check back in tonight but if I don't get to I'll see you all in the morning.

Keep on
Chris

Well I made it through my first day of the 100 day challenge without any problem.

I drank 126 ounces of water and worked out at Jazzercise again tonight. Dinner was very good - I didn't eat salad because it was ready before I went and worked out so I ate. It was Beef Stroganoff and it was suppose to be made with beef strips but dh made it with lean ground sirloin (96% fat free). The recipe didn't call for any noodles so we had egg noodles with it. The totals were 288 cals, 14 fat grams, 15 carbs for 1 cup but that is with the strip steak strips so I don't even know how to cut that down. I know the fat content wasn't that high. That's a lot of fat grams. I never realized how bad egg noodles are - 1 cup is 221 cals, 3.3 fat, 40.3 carbs. So it looks like my dinner was about 509 cals, 17.3 fat grams, 55.3 carbs. And that was all I ate!!!!

So that makes my totals for the day - 1353 cals, 35.6 fat grams, 191.4 carbs. It appears I'm pretty in line with what I've been in the past. I want to try to hit 1500 cals and 210 carbs and keep the fat grams below 30 if possible. I'm going to have 1/2 cup of fat free frozen yogurt in a little bit because I'm a little hungry.

I did eat before I worked out so I don't know if that is good or bad - can anyone shed some light on that? I didn't suffer from doing that - I didn't get any cramps or anything.

Okay - see you guys tomorrow. Got some scheduling to work out as dd's play practice has started and she picked up a carpooler a couple of weeks ago.
Chris

I'm finally feeling human again and catching up on journals. You've been doing AWESOME!!!
