My husband is disabled, f/t w/c use. We are booked in Cat 5 for Magic , May '05. We really wanted Cat 4, but there are no accessible cabins. We are on a wait list for Cat 3 (disabled cabin). Can anyone tell me what our chances of having the wait list come through. Does Disney hold back the accessible cabins for the disabled?

We don't know how often a cabin will be cancelled but all the disabled cabins are great. We had an inside cabin on our first cruise and on our second a category 6. It was booked for our 3rd so we will have a category 5.

I got info on our specific cabin by doing a search-- it was fun to read about how lovely it was! In fact we can give a report when we get back from our March cruise!

They require a signed medical statement from a Dr. if you request an accessible stateroom. The only way they can legally require this is to assist them in determining whether or not someone really needs an accessible room. However I have "caught" accessible staterooms being assigned to non-handicapped cruisers MONTHS in advance of a cruise. Being waitlisted can't hurt....Talking to the Special Services rep can't hurt, either. Are you working with a TA who knows Disney?

All the accessible staterooms are held back *except* the Cat. 3's. They are in such demand that once all the others are gone, the accessible ones are then available for anyone to book, disability or not. That said, if you have a medical clearance form sent in ( Lynda mentioned that), then if anyone cancels a Cat. 3, someone non-disabled that was originally assigned to the one you would need would be moved, and then you could have the accessible one. As to whether anyone is going to cancel, it's hard to say, but you have a long way to go until May. We are waitlisted for the 14 night May cruise for a Cat. 6 but since there are only two, I'm not holding my breath. When I booked, the Cat. 3's were available but way out of my price range! Which date are you sailing? Kathy

I assume we were not asked to supply disability proof as we sailed last year and provided it then. We are booked on the Magic first week of May western Carribean. We were in cat 5 last year, I just really wanted to spoil my husband this year.

Actually, you are supposed to send it in every time you sail. If there isn't one attached to your reservation, then technically you could be bumped to a non accessible stateroom if others send in the form and also want your Cat. I'd call and ask to receive the form to send back just as security. Kathy
