Looking at doing a Bahamas cruise next year, but I cant find any detail which advises what time you get off the cruise. Just trying to plan whether the day you get off you can also fly home or whether it is too late.

Also are snacks etc included in the price as we are going with 2 teenagers who will want that.

Any other info on the cruises would be very helpful as we havent been on a Disney cruise before.

Thanks

I believe you get off by 9am so fine for most uk bound flights which are normally afternoon.

Trust me, with two teenagers you won't go hungry! All food is included and there is plenty of choice (including room service). There are also free soft drinks included. The only food you could pay for is Palo restaurant which has a $25 cover charge per person.

There are food stations on the pool deck serving burgers, pizza, ice cream, sandwiches and wraps.

Once the ship has been cleared by the authorities you can disembark, usually from around 8am, most people off by 9am so you will have no problem with an afternoon flight, not something we have ever done though we like a few days back in Orlando before flying home, like this year we will have 3 days after the cruise. I think we enjoy the cruise to the max that way, I fear knowing we are flying home straight after might take something away from the enjoyment.
Not sure if the Dream takes a little longer to get everyone off having a lot more passengers onboard, we will find out next month.

Food is the last thing you need to worry about on a cruise, you have the regular 3 meals a day, inbetween you have all you can eat pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, ice cream......... have a look here http://land.allears.net/blogs/allearsteam/2011/01/disney_dream_dining_overview.html
If you are still hungry or just plain greedy like me and Matt you ring room service and get them to bring something, just tip a couple for $ for them bringing it to you.

Its difficult to give info on a cruise without having specific questions, there is so much to say, have you had a read on the cruise section of DIS? we are more than willing to discuss here but there is loads of info over there.

Before doing a cruise we were a little unsure we would enjoy it, next month will be our 6th Disney cruise plus done 2 on Royal Caribbean, can't wait to see the new ship.

Wayne - what do you do, off hire the car at Port and then re-hire afterwards? Or do you use the coach facility on offer by the cruise?

On short cruises like this next 4 nighter we are doing we keep the car and pay for parking at $15/day.
On longer cruises then yes we drop the car and get another after.
You need to price up all options, this time its costing us about £80 to have the car sat there but its great for storage while on the ship.
Coach tranfers are $69pp for a round trip so for 4 people its probably better getting a town car if you don't want to drive. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-transportation.htm

Is it worth doing palo over one of the other resturants? Having not doing a cruise before is it worth DB and I having a nice quiet meal. So much to learn about the cruise and I am getting worried I am going to miss something.

IMO, not really. Yes it's quiet and the service is attentive but I wasn't that impressed with Palo food compared to the main dining room. Overall I didn't think DCL food was very good. I really enjoyed the cruise but the food was average at best.

Sorry, I included the extra tip we gave the server.
I was discussing the tip this morning, last time IIRC the cost was $10pp, the service was outstanding and she gave us a plate full of stuff to take away for Matt, didn't hesitate leaving $20 tip ontop of the $20 charged, now its a $40 charge for us I think the tip will be $5, $10 max. there is no way I could pay $75pp for Remy but I am sure plenty will.

To me no, if its your 1st cruise seeing the other restaurants is enough. Took us until our 4th cruise and Matt was 15 before we would leave him to try Palo. Fantastic service & food but we don't believe in dining without children, we go on holiday for family meals.

OOOh wayne I couldnt eat half off that menu anyway. Dont like fish for a start:eek:

I love just about anything out of the ocean, Karen is totally the opposite, tinned tuna & haddock from the fish shop is all she will eat.:goodvibes

Oh,I thought it looked very nice and from all the reports I read it is said to be great:confused3.Not been on any other cruise to compare but then we are not fussy eaters apart from me with the fish thingy:scared1:

Menus change, people like different things, we have always been very happy with DCL food but our last cruise was by far the best food, there were some very nice choices on the menus Pics here of what we had that last cruise. http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/wayneg1/Disney Cruise Aug 09/?start=all

All depends what you are used to, your expectations, how good it is on the night..... as with all restaurants. Before our 1st cruise we used to eat more meals in places like Ponderosa, Golden Corral etc than anywhere else so cruise food to us was in a different league. In more recent years we eat at more expensive places, still won't pay silly money for food. Disney cruise food is still higher standard IMO to what we are used to at many Disney Restaurants, Logan's Roadhouse, Mimi's Cafe etc Maybe the food is not upto the Disney Signature restaurants but we have been more than happy with it. Hope the food on The Dream is good now.

The problem with cruise food is that it's mass catering. It's made and then plated and kept warm until serving. I didn't think it was very well seasoned and rather bland. The puddings are mostly cake based and very cold.

I don't think you will ever get great food on a cruise, but you will get lots of it!

I believe it was french onion soup
DMIL made it for us, I bought all the stuff on it from Michaels and Ebay, she got the material and made it.
