Cruise ship runs aground

Ouch. Norweigian is not having a good week...

My family is booked on a Norwegian cruise next year to Bermuda. The reefs and channel into that port scare me, especially now!

When you look at how many ship transit the reefs and channels in that area, you should not be concerned. There
as many as 8 ships a day.

The Dawn is due to be towed into a berth soon and will complete her survey/ inspection. She is expected to sail 1700 today.

So far reports are she lost steering and then power and drifted out of the channel. There doesn't seem to be any major damage.

AKK

I guess I missed whatever else happened to NCL this week.

I've been on the BOS>BDA cruise before but it was many years ago and the ship docked in St. Georges, which had a very tight channel. I see they now use the Royal Dockyard instead, probably because of the larger ships. Glad that there doesn't seem to be any injuries and ship's services are unaffected. Hope the cruise can resume as scheduled.

Glad there weren't any injuries or serious damage.

A little girl drowned on a different ship. Unimaginable heartbreak for some poor family.

Still, unlike certain other ships, they seem to have acted appropriately and ordered a distress call immediately which was responded to by trained personnel. No one was hurt and they handled the problem. I'm more inclined to look at that than the problems. At least it seems that they know what to do in an emergency and take control. You can't always control or prevent emergencies but you can control how you respond to them and that, to me, is far more important.
