The recent case where the woman went overboard is strange. The interviews are revealing. The woman's family thinks she might have jumped (?) although she was happy during the trip. That seemed odd to me. The husband's history of headbutting his wife didn't look too good. And why did he wait 8 hours before alerting the crew that his wife was missing?

I wonder if they will ever get to the bottom of this case. :sad2:

I have read (don't rememebr where) that often times people that comit suicide are often in a very good mood and very happy prior to taking their life because they have made the final decision and are relieved it will soon be over.

Other than that in this case it does seem strange that he didn't miss her for 8 hours.

He didn't miss headbuttin' her? :scared:

Very strange.

This is why I refuse to go on cruises. What if I unknowingly have ticked off the person I'm with, and they give me the heave-ho off the bow???

The husband is beyond strange from the interviews. One guy that was on the ship passed the husband in a hallway onboard. The husband held up a bag of quarters and said he hoped he could change his luck. He wasn't acting like a grieving husband.

And there was a couple that had a room right next door to the missing woman's room. There was loud arguing coming from their room before she went missing. I found that very interesting.

There were also rumors that they were heard fighting in their stateroom. He could have gotten mad and went to the casino or the bar. Easy enough to do on a cruise ship for 8 hours. I am curious as to why the family was so quick to attribute it to suicide before a complete investigation was done?

was it her side or his side who started the "suicide" rumour?

I want to go on a cruise. But I'm sure I'll be overly cautious. Seems like these disappearances happen fairly often. :(

Why pay all that money to jump. There are plenty of places to jump for free.

There seems to be more and more.....and I will never, ever go. I even turned down a Disney cruise :scared1: !! Between worrying that I would be thrown overboard, fall overboard, am afraid of heights and clausterphobic, I just don't think they fit me!!!

Her mother was on the cruise with them and staying in the same cabin. They both looked around for her... if he's in the casino and comes back to the room, maybe he thinks she went out somewhere else? On our cruises, I can be without DH for hours, but we carry walkie talkies.

The ship cameras catch her going overboard at 8:00 pm Christmas night. The FBI says he is not a suspect, probably because cameras have him somewhere else at that time. The hallway cameras will let them know if anyone entered or exited that room during that time.

People react differently...maybe he was relieved, that she had finally ended it...who knows? HER family states she had had problems in the recent past and had recently been diagnosed as bipolar.

Sad, but most likely suicide.

My Grandfather committed suicide. He was as happy as could be the night before, he had dinner with my parents and myself and the next morning we found him in his bedroom.

I tend to wonder if that reaction that was sited in the article that I read is even true! How could someone who's wife is missing be on his way to the casino!!?? If that IS true and he DOES have a history of DV I certainly hope the FBI is investigating the husband!
What a weird incident though?? The family suggests suicide but then goes into great detail about how happy she was?? I feel very sorry for that woman...

It is all very bizarre. None of it adds up. The trip to the casino was eyebrow raising to me. The person interviewed was credible. He's a retired police officer.

I feel sorry for the missing woman too.

The woman's brother called in to GMA this morning and was saying how he is very angry with the people from the cruise ship starting rumors about people they only met briefly. He said that his BIL (the woman overboard's hubby), was the best thing that ever happened to his sister and the fact that people would even consider him as a suspect is ridiculous. If they really knew the family they would know that. Also, the mom/MIL was sharing a cabin with them and didn't say anything about arguing.
From being on cruise ships myself, you definitely could look for someone for hours and not find them...who really knows what happened, but I feel awful for the family.
My uncle committed suicide a couple years ago right before Christmas, and it definitely is like a little black cloud over the holidays.

I saw that as well!! (the police officer) That was what made me actually think that it was true (about the casino)! The whole thing is so strange....
