Planning on going to WDW next December for 7 or maybe 10 days and would like to book a 4 day cruise as part of the trip and have some questions:

do you book directly with WDW or through someone like Dreams Unlimited?
is it better to do a package such as land/cruise or book as two separate segments?
what is the best type of stateroom for 2 adults/2 children without being ridiculously expensive?

any helpful advice on the best way of doing it would be much appreciated.

Hi Annmarie

We're off on our 3rd Disney cruise next May. The first time we went we booked through Virgin, but the next two have been booked on the Internet through the Disney Cruise Line website.

On our first trip we had a cat. 9, which was great and we booked the same category for the second trip, then a week before our holiday DCL rang and gave us a free upgrade to a category 6, which gave us a verandah. Well DH loved that verandah so much that we have booked this for next time.

I did a report on my cruises, which you will find here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=562127&highlight=+chucklechops

If you need to know anything else, just let me know.

Hello Annmarie

Have you got time to be posting?? Shouldn't you be thinking up some more evil questions for us, young lady?!! LOL

Another vote for DU - the quote they gave me was half (yes, really) the price that Disney quoted me. Alternatively I also found Vacations to go had prices much cheaper than Disney - sometimes as much as 75% off. Although they are based in America there is a free phone number to call from the UK.

Cheers

We're off in less than 2 weeks. Took a Virgin fly drive & booked ASMo for less than half what Virgin wanted. After 6 days here we're off for a 3 day cruise. Booked this through mouseearvacations & the rate was less than half what Virgin wanted. The company representative assigned (Coleen) is even hand delivering our docs to us at the resort! We could have booked the land part through her for the same price as direct with Disney, but didn't know that at the time! We have been so impressed, we are already booked for 2006!!!

Thanks for the help ladies but I have another question:

because its Xmas time they have changed the day of sailing so this means for us we can either cruise for 4 days and then go to WDW for a few days or do a few days at WDW then cruise for 3 days and then home. In your considered opinion which do you think would be the best way round to do it?

The 4 days means being on the ship on Xmas day and the 3 days means spending Xmas day in WDW, would that make a difference to your choice?

We're just about to take our first cruise (check out my timer!) and we booked though DU at a deeply discounted rate. There were similar offers through MouseEars vacations and a couple of others. I can not fault Dreams and I would use them again.

I would prefer to do the cruise first and WDW afterwards regardless of the time of year, but given your circumstances, I would say it's a no-brainer. WDW will be manic on Christmas Day, whereas the ship has limited capacity.

i always book directly with WDW and DCL.....probably not the cheapest way to go, but that's the way i book all of our vacations regardless of destination......the only time i use my travel agent is to book flights, and that's only because in the country where we live, airline travel can only be booked through agents....otherwise i'd do that directly as well...

anyway...the land/sea package is generally more expensive than booking the two parts separately.....
