We're going on the Dream Aug15 lauch date to The Bahamas. My question is what would you do ,fly in on the night before and stay on property and then take a bus from their resort, orfly in that morning and take a bus from the airport?
Last year on our cruise, we flew in the night before. We also went in December, and didn't want any travel/weather related delays.
I would go the day before, even in August. I hate to feel rushed and stare at my watch when we travel.
Also, we had 7 in our party that were cruising, so rather then take the bus, it was cheaper to rent a limo for our ride over. The kids ride Disney buses all the time and were thrilled with the limo. Depending on how many are in your party this might be a cheaper alternative.
If at all possible, I would fly in the night before. Bottom line is they won't hold the ship if you are delayed for any reason. IMO, it's worth the extra money just to keep my stress levels in check.
Don't know that I would bother staying at a Disney resort, though. We used points for one night in a DVC studio once and it was pretty pointless. Only reason we went that route is a friend had some expiring points and he paid for the room.
There are many cheap hotels close to the port which will give you a bed for the night, and provide shuttle service to the port in the morning. Just need to arrange for your own transportation from the MCO to the hotel.
Arthur- It's just me 58 and my DW52 going on this cruise. But i took your advice and we're staying home @ OKW .I thought for 14 points which is Approx.
$70. we can relax by the pool and have a light dinner @ Olivia's and be off to the cruise the next day
Have a great time! We often stay at DVC the night before a cruise, even if it's out of port Everglades! We do feel home at our DVC resorts! We've also stayed at Vero. We have found renting a car to be reasonable, and we go with companies that have a shuttle to the port.

The peace of mind is worth the day early arrival. As Tim pointed out as well, they will not hold the boat for you. Rushing around in the morning and flying out then getting from MCO to port and on the ship is just more then I would want to do on disembarkation day.
We rented from Happy Limo, and I know they usually have some discounts on Mousesavers website. I see its $220 RT from MCO to Port for a Luxury Sedan. It would be a little cheaper then Disney buses.

Were staying at AKV for 6 nights and the going on the cruise. Depending on the airfare and travel times when I get the plane tickets I might have to get a room for a night before we fly back ( darn) as well.
