We are planning our first DVC vacation for October 2003. At that time we will be a family of five with three children aged eight, six and twenty two months.
We want to combine our stay in BCV with a Disney Cruise and I have lots of questions:
Firstly I would be interested to hear you comments about how suitble the cruise would be for our youngest daughter ( 22 months )
Also , do we have to book a family suite for five or can we reserve a smaller room ( and therefore less points)? I actually would prefer a room without a balcony as I can imagine my middle daughter trying to jump over!
Lastly,do you think that the seven day cruise would be too long for 'first timers'?
I would be so grateful to hear the comments of other members. We are so looking forward to using our DVC membership and would definitely come sooner if our baby was older.

I always took my babies when traveling and WDW was always very baby friendly. I think you will be pleased with the cruise and children/babies too. There is Flounders for child care and even family time when you can bring the little one into the kids club with you for some fun.

You will have to book at least a category 4 which holds five people if you want to be in one room. Or you could consider two connecting lower category rooms for more space and two full bathrooms.

Good luck planning your cruise vacation! :)

Planning that first DVC vacation is always very exciting but at times, a little nerve racking! We joined in Feb 2001 and took our first DVC vacation this past Feb. Because we ended up with double the points, we decided to take advantage and combine WDW with the cruise. We stayed for 6 days at VWL which is our home resort in a studio, and took the 3 day cruise from Thursday to Sunday. We had a category 6 stateroom with the verrandah. Oh, by the way, we have 2 children, ages 12 & 11. We decided to take the 3 day cruise because my wife was a little nervous about her first cruise and just in case she didn't like it, 3 days at sea was better that 4 or 7!!!
This was the BEST vacation we ever had. Although we felt a little rushed in the parks(we usually stay for at least 8 days in WDW alone) the cruise was FANTASTIC!!! We had such a wonderful time. The ship is beautiful, the food was great, there was always something to do, or you didn't have to do anything at all. The children loved Oceaneers Lab and Castaway Cay was absolutely beautiful!!!! We didn't want to come home. Also, I wouldn't worry about your young one - there were plenty of young children and babies on board. Day care or babysitting is available.
Go for it and enjoy your first DVC vacation..........We did!!!!!
