I am eagerly awaiting the release of the chart for the cruise points for 2004. I understand that this will be released sometime this spring. We are interested in a cruise in May of 2004. Does someone have the history of what the point chart was for 2002, so I could analyze how it increased from 2002 to 2003? Also, maybe I am optimistic, but I would think with the publicity problems that DCL encountered last fall from the virus, they would not increase the point charts too much.:bounce:

I don't think DCL or the Norwalk virus has much of anything to do with how the point chart requirements are set. My assumption is that DCL and DVC negotiate a cash price that DVC will pay DCL for every person who cruises via DVC. Then DVC determines how many room nights they have to rent to capture that amount of cash to give DCL. Thus, the points are really related to how many people want to pay cash to stay at a DVC resort. If demand for WDW hotels is down (and DVC has to offer discounted rates for the rooms), the points to cruise will be higher.

Hope the points don't go up much (or even down, LOL) and that you enjoy the cruise!

Agree. ArthurAmish Welcome to the board. Thanks for joining the rest of us nuts.:)

Welcome Arthur!

I e-mailed DVC earlier this week and was told that the points would be out by the end of THIS week but I checked this morning and still NOTHING.

I'm as anxious as you are in getting this information!!!

Again welcome to the madness of the Mouse!

I'm anxiously waiting also. We want to take the 4 day cruise Presidents week '04, so we need to book next month. I hope there isn't a problem because I know that they are already taking cash ressies.

I emailed MS this morning about when 2004 points will be out and here is the response I got:

Hello Rosalie,

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

I wish that I knew. Please continue to check back every 10 days or so for an
update on the status.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

For what it's worth I was told yesterday that it would be next week. I saw someone else on another thread was told the last of next week, we will see.

We did the eastern 7 day during the regular season (2002) and for Category 6 it was 211 pts. The points for 2003 for the same category and season is 237 pts. Thats a difference of 26 pts. We are also waiting for the 2004 points to come out since we would like to do the Western cruise. When we booked for 2002 the point charts weren't out yet and then MS called later with the updated points. I believed it was towards the end of February.I hope it is soon.:Pinkbounc

It was approximately mid-April before they had the charts last year. People went through the same kind of machinations last year. Fortunately, our sailing date was not until July 2003, so we were able to wait it out. One caveat, there was an (unacknowledged) mistake in the original Western cruise chart last year that was quietly changed in between the time that it was originally posted and the time we made our reservations. Made a 20 or 30 point difference in our reservation, but I was not too upset because the original chart did not make sense to me given previous charts.

I have both my 2002 and 2003 books so I can help you out--depends on which category and which season you are interested in.
For example, the 2002 7 day eastern category 4 was 263 per adult--in 2003 it is 299, a difference of 36 points! Category 10 went up from 159 to 177, a hike of only 18 points. This is during regular season.

  • 2001 - 7 day Bahama 179, 4 day 122, 112
